And that’s a wrap. With a heavy heart I hand back the keys I was given over 15 years ago to this building, I’ve just said farewell to Charlotte Butt who is reading news this afternoon.

What wonderful times they have been. I met Sarah there, our children are Wave 105 babies (they are not the only ones!)

So many memories of brilliant people of which are still friends, amazing events from Night Air in Bournemouth and Wave 105 Live to things like Mission Christmas and the Santa Run we did last year…and let’s not forget Secret Santa!

I’m still waiting for an invite to one of Kate’s candlelight suppers and I’ve just had a lovely message from Judith who is still on holiday 😂

Wave was so much more than a radio station and a job, it was friendship, not only with everyone who worked there but to the listeners who we knew by name and the sound of their voices.

I’ve very much enjoyed my time on GHR but everything moves on and I’m very excited about making new friends and continuing to entertain and inform on BBC Radio Solent - so much heritage and passion it really has impressed me. Exciting plans for the new afternoon show await in 2025.

In the meantime, have an amazing Christmas and I hope you will join me in the new year.

Hi Rick

There were two songs I loved as a kid as they both listed the names of loads of famous people. There was We Didn’t Start The Fire by Billy Joel and the other one, which was my guilty pleasure, featured a Pompey footballer as me and dad are massive Pompey fans and we’d always cheer when we heard Vince Hilaire mentioned!
The song is simply called Hello by a band called the Beloved. This surely must be the song that holds the record for the most celebrity shout-outs in history!

It would make my Christmas if you could play my guilty pleasure one morning? This man was the man of my dreams in the 70s, my first crush! I used to swoon when he was on the telly, then I managed to get tickets to Top of the Pops when this song went to No.1 – you can see me in the background!
Since, I seen him countless times, including in Portsmouth, something I think would never have happened in 1977!

I hope you can find my guilty pleasure? In the 80s I was into the likes of Jan Hammer, Thomas Dolby and bands like New Order and Propaganda. In the early 90s I was very surprised when Propaganda had another hit, but it was very different to their 80s stuff. I was more of a ballad, called Heaven Give Me Words and it was a beautiful song….I was more into dance and rave stuff by the early 90s but this one was very much a guilty pleasure next to all that 808 State and Altern 8 stuff!!
