As it Future 4 Fairgrounds World Fun Fair Month at the moment it is only right we should feature one of the most historic rides at Nottingham Goose Fair

James Noyce & Sons Funfair’s Gallopers were built by Savage’s of King’s Lynn in 1897 and have been attending Goose Fair since the 1950’s.

They form a familiar first sight for many coming off the Tram or the entrance Gregory Boulevard / Noel Street entrance.

When they first attended in 1955 they were one of three sets along with Ashley’s and Morley’s sets.

By the 1970s there was a decline in Galloper numbers. In 1976 there were just two Gallopers and by 1980 Noyce’s presented the only Gallopers at Nottingham, and would remain the sole example at Goose Fair for much of the decade.

Noyce’s Gallopers are one of the most famous rides in the country and it’s always great to see them return to Nottingham Goose Fair each year.
