WE ARE RECRUITING!!

Due to growth within the company, Well-Fed currently have a number of positions available within our food production Unit based in the west of the city. The following positions are currently being recruited for:

Head Chef - 45 hrs per week 5 days over 7 £37K - £45K dependant on experience. Must have experience of working in a high output environment and minimum of 5 year’s experience of managing a large kitchen team essential

Production Chef - 45 hrs per week 5 days over 7 £31K - 37K dependant on experience / performance. Must have minimum 2 years’ experience of working a high volume / food production setting

Professional Kitchen Porter - 45 hrs per week 5 days over 7 £28K - £31K dependant on experience and performance. Must have a minimum of 2 year’s experience working in a professional setting and must set and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in all aspects of the role

Food production / Packaging worker - 40 hrs per week, 5 days over 7 £25K - £28K dependant on experience / performance Experience of working in a food / catering setting is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided. It is essential that applicants have an willingness to learn to work in food production environment.

Dispatch Co-ordinator - 45hrs per week 5 days over 7 £31K - £35K dependant on experience / performance. Must have a minimum of 2 year's experience in packing / labelling and dispatching high volume orders. Experience in a food setting would be preferred but not essential. This is a physically demanding job, hence applicants should be in good physical health.

Delivery Driver's 25 - 50 hrs per week, 5 days over 7 £20K - £45K dependant on hours / routes / shift patterns worked. Must have a clean full UK driving Licence. Must have experience driving a van. Experience of multidrop beneficial but not essential as full guidance and support will be given. This is a physically demanding job, hence applicants should be in good physical health.

✨Christmas Lights Switch On✨

🗓️Friday 2nd December
🕔5pm - 7pm

Come along to The Unit for our big Christmas tree lights switch on event.

As well as seeing the huge Christmas tree lights glow up South Street, we’ll have fun activities for kids including face painting, letters to Santa and a Christmas movie showing too.

We will have our catering vans open for you to purchase some of the great food and drinks we know you’ve all been missing from The Unit since we closed. 😊

So come on down and help us launch Christmas 2022 at The Unit.

It was lovely to welcome Christina McKelvie MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse in to The Unit today to celebrate Living Wage Week.
As the minister for Equalities and Older People, Ms McKelvie was impressed with the work we do here at Well-Fed to offer a range of free services to the local community. She got to see our baby and toddler class in action and took time to chat to many of our staff.

🧩 Baby & Toddler Class: Tuesday & Thursday, 10am - 12pm, The Unit
A great playgroup for babies and toddlers. Little ones enjoy a great range of toys, games and a sing-song whilst adults enjoy a cuppa and a chat. Healthy refreshments are provided. The class is held in our outdoor space so please dress for the weather.

🧩 ASN Baby & Toddler Class: Thursday, 1pm - 2pm, The Unit
Playgroup for children with additional support needs. Little ones enjoy a great range of safe and sensory toys and games with healthy refreshments provided. The class is held in our outdoor space so please dress for the weather.

😅 Park Fit: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 10am - 11am, Victoria Park
Fun, energetic exercise class using body weight, buggies, prams or benches. Open to anyone, especially new mums who need somewhere they can exercise with their kids. Meet by the toilets and pond in Victoria Park.

💪 HIIT class: Wednesday, 10am - 11am, The Unit
High intensity circuits class to build strength and fitness. Suitable for all fitness levels. Parents can bring their babies and toddlers to these sessions but we DO NOT have a supervised crèche available this week, apologies. The class is held in our outdoor space so please dress for the weather.

🥊 The Unit Boxing Club (UBC): ❗️NEW class times ❗️Thursday, ages 5-10, 4.30pm, ages 11-15, 5.30pm, 16+, 6.30pm, The Unit
Learn the skill of boxing, build strength, confidence and fitness. Suitable for all fitness levels. Registration post will be shared with more info on Monday evening this week, keep your eyes peeled.

ASN BABY & TODDLER CLASS

Tomorrow afternoon we have our baby & toddler class that is tailored for children with additional support needs.

These classes are lower in numbers and maximise the use of our more sensory toys.

If you feel that your child could benefit from this style of class please come along.

We set up in our outdoor space com rain or shine so please check the weather and dress appropriately.

Weekly walking group to get some steps in. Meet at The Unit and walk to Victoria Park and back. The route is accessible for prams and wheelchairs.

😅 Park Fit: Tuesday & Thursday, 10am - 11am, Victoria Park

BABY & TODDLER CLASS

We are so pleased to be starting back our Baby & Toddler classes (previously called Parent & Child class).

This is a really popular playgroup for children to play and meet other kids, not forgetting a good cuppa and a chat for the grown ups.
We have a big selection of toys and games for babies to pre-school ages so there is something for everyone!

Tea, coffee and refreshments are provided. 😃

🕙 Classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 10am - 12pm, with an Addition Support Needs class on Thursday at 1pm - 2pm

HIIT CLASS

Michelle’s high intensity interval training (HIIT) class is back! 🙌🏼

Twice a week at The Unit, Michelle will take you through a HIIT circuits workout using lightweight equipment and bodyweight exercises.

This is a great class to get fit and build your strength. It’s suitable for all fitness levels as can be adapted to suit you.

🧸 Some classes will have a supervised crèche with toys for little ones and a trained member of our team to keep them entertained while you do the class.
❗️This week only the Wednesday class will have the crèche. You are welcome to bring your children to the Monday or Friday class but we don’t have staff available to supervise children those days.

❗️IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ❗️

Today we are making the very important announcement that, effective immediately, we will no longer be operating a family restaurant at The Unit.

It is no longer commercially viable for us to run a 2-3 day a week restaurant so going forward we will be a purely events venue and community space as well as providing quality corporate catering.

We are committed to our community work at Well-Fed Scotland CIC which utilises the space during the week, which will continue. We will also still operate our free pantry and no doubt many other initiatives in the future.

This is an exciting move for our organisation but it has been a difficult decision to make as we have built a very unique offering for families dining out in Glasgow that we are very proud of.

We have had the pleasure of welcoming thousands of you through our doors over the past year to share a meal, enjoy a family occasion and have some great parties. We can’t thank you enough for your custom and for your support and we hope this continues as we make this move.

We plan to host a monthly family event where you can come along and enjoy the usual great experience we offer with delicious food, live entertainment and a fun atmosphere.

If you have a booking with us and have not already been contacted please get in touch as unfortunately we will not be able to honour these. Please accept our apologies for this.

Very soon we will share more details about our offering for weddings and events so watch this space and please continue to share and support what we do, however you can.

Apologies, we hoped to open on Sunday but due to our ongoing kitchen construction we are limited on what we can operate at the moment.

BYOB 🍺🍷🍹

Good news for your pocket folks - over the summer while we complete our renovations we are BYOB only.
So you can bring your favourite tipple for a small corkage of £5, saving you a few quid on dinner and drinks with friends and family.

Once the sun finally shines you’ll be running down with your cold beers and cans of G&T to enjoy in our garden under those sweet rays! ☀️🕶🍹

We are hosting our summer club at The Unit from Monday - Friday so we will be closed on Fridays until schools are back.

This means we are only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm - 10pm.

Huge thanks to everyone that came along to our 1st birthday party on Sunday. 🙏

It was a brilliant day with lots of games, music and of course great food.

Special thanks to Amber our wonderful host who kept the kids and adults laughing with some party games, to Kevin Potts for giving us all some great music, to Alana for the fantastic face painting and to the Alana Rose Irish Dance Company for their excellent performance.

We hope everyone that came along enjoyed it as much as we did. 😀

1 MORE DAY 🙌🏼

Here is our final line up for tomorrow folks!

You can enjoy some great music throughout the day from Kevin Potts and Ross Anderson.

We are thrilled to have the Alana Rose Irish Dance Company performing at 2pm.

We also have Iron Man, Skye from Paw Patrol and a Dino popping in to visit.

All of this plus some great games led by our wonderful host and the chance to win some prizes.

Not to mention the free face painting, temporary tattoos and scavenger hunt for the kids.

It’s going to be a fab day folks!
