Her Royal Highness Princess Anne attended International Fire and Rescue Association HQ in Thornton yesterday. The Princess arrived by helicopter nearby for the short drive to our HQ. This was in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of IFRA. After meeting the Lord Lieutenant of Fife Mr Robert Balfour she was introduced to David Kay OBE Director of IFRA and Director Gary Johnstone and Lisa Wood. Then to invited guests Ross Haggart Chief Officer of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Roddie Mckinnon Scottish Equipment Manager SFRS, Joy Tomlinson NHS Fife, Caroline Quinn NHS Fife, Cllr Ross Vetraino Fife Council, Derek Martin Ballyclare Scotland, John Maitland HM Coastguard, Gordon Dewar Chief executive of Edinburgh Airport. Along with the invited guests we had some special guests from some of the countries we assist around the world,

Edison Suma – Service Commander, Directorate Fire Protection & Rescue for Skhoder (Albania).

Nicolas Rivero Treasurer from Foundation Firefighters we serve Argentina.

Marco Antonio Sánchez Guerrero. General Director of the Fire Department of State of Chiapas, Commissioner of the Mexican Association of Fire Chiefs of the Mexican Republic.

Mrs Fabiola Ricci Diestel. Local Deputy. President of the Security Commission of the Honourable congress of the state of Chiapas, Mexico.

Yenny Sosa Director ANFB Paraguay representing the Junta Nacional de Cuerpo de Bomberos voluntarios del Paraguay (JNCBVP).

The Princess was shown displays regarding our missions abroad and was given a briefing by our Coordinators for these areas Kenny Redpath Mexico , David Wishart Argentina , Davy Hume Albania and Clara Kay Paraguay who was also the Translator for HRH, the Princess then inspected our stores facilities before being invited outside to name a Fire appliance we use for training "Jubilee" in honour of our late Queen HM Queen Elizabeth II. Afterwards Miss Nicole Kay presented HRH with a posie of Scottish flowers escorted by Master Matthew Kay.
