One of our past members, Hephzibah Isherwood was recently featured on BBC Northwest Tonight for her amazing music therapy work with children in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Many of you will know Hephzibah who runs the Dark Peak Theory Classes. Her story is very interesting and the article below gives some idea of her own struggles with ME and an insight into the incredibly valuable work of music therapists.

Hephzibah Isherwood, from Manchester, was housebound for years due to the chronic fatigue condition.

A big round of applause to our intrepid Christmas Buskers who spent yesterday bringing some Christmas cheer to the town. Huge thanks to M&S for hosting us yet again and to the generous shoppers of Glossop who donated well over £700 which will all go towards funding special events and talent development projects for our young musicians throughout the year.

Dark Peak Young Voices were looking and sounding splendid for their Christmas Concert, Party and Open Evening.
As well as the full choir there were several solos, including our youngest and newest member of the choir who gave a beautiful rendition Walking in the Air from the Snowman. It was a gorgeous event full of Christmas spirit and lovely singing.

The choir is open to all children from 7 to 16 with two groups (7-11 and 11-16). For more information about joining please leave a message or visit our website darkpeakmusic.co.uk.

The Dark Peak Brass Ensemble sounded magnificent leading the traditional carols for the St. James' & St Luke's Whitfield Parish Carol Service. Storm Darragh meant it couldn't be around the tree in the Norfolk Square as usual, but everyone was very happy to decamp to the warm and dry of St Luke's Church (and for once the trombone slides didn't freeze up!)
The church was packed to the rafters and it was lovely to share the event with choirs from Dinting, St Margaret's and St James' Primary Schools.

Some of our youngest players in the Supertonics group gave their Christmas Showcase. All of them gave outstanding solo performances and the grand finale was a mass rendition of Jingle Bells. It was great to see so much enthusiasm and talent amongst our rising stars.

Special thanks to Emma for all her work with Supertonics and Leading Notes - music and movement classes based on Dalcroze Eurythmics and Kodaly methods.

Congratulations to our Intermediate Wind Band under director Sarah Hind on their Gold Award at the National Concert Band Festival.
A really amazing achievement especially when so many of the players have just moved up from junior level and have had just 7 weeks to work up this ambitious programme.
Special thanks to Sarah whose calm expertise and encouragement has steered them through to a confident and assured performance.
The adjudicators, Simone Rebello and Gerard Booth gave the ensemble excellent feedback, commenting on their attention to detail, good tuning and balance and the level of commitment in their playing. They also gave some valuable advice on aspects of performance to concentrate on as the group develops.
The experience of playing at NCBF marks the start of this group's journey to becoming a top-level ensemble.
