What does love mean to you? Is it like this photo? Or is it the love of a child? Family member? Friend? Neighbour? Pet? - love is shown in many forms so why should it only be couples that celebrate love at Valentines?

Can you believe this wreath is 4 years old!! The one beauty of drying out flowers and keeping the arrangements in the right conditions means the colours and effects last long after it was created!

This wreath was created as a fresh wreath but left to naturally dry out where it wouldn’t get wet or damp and became even more beautiful over time

I’ll be having lots more dried flowers arriving soon to add to my own dried bundles so I’ll be making some great dried treats …. Watch this space

Anyone else a little fed up with social media at the moment?

It’s taken me a week to post on her as I’ve become so disheartened with socials, all I see are adverts, suggested pages that I may like but in reality is nothing I follow elsewhere, random videos of absolute twoddle and hardly seeing much of what matters and those who I do follow! How do we change this effect before it too late?

As a small business like many we use social media to reach our ideal clients however at the moment it doesn’t always seem to reach there!
But anyway we carry on in hope, so here’s a beautiful photo taken by Beck Payne Photography For one of my amazing weddings last year to bright your evening…..if you see it!!

新年快樂 Happy Chinese New Year 2025!!

Although traditionally the new year represents a new animal and this year is the year of the snake, flowers are also an important part of Chinese New Year celebrations, also known as the Spring Festival. Often specific flowers are given as gifts or used as decorations around the home due to their meanings for the year ahead!

🌱Orchids - represent integrity & friendship
🌱Peonies - peace, honour, prosperity
🌱Chrysanthemum- are considered lucky
🌱Narcissus - ‘water fairy flowers’ full of promise / success
🌱Peach blossom - growth and romance
🌱Flamingo flowers - prosperity
🌱Plum blossom - good fortune

The peonies is regarded as the highest positioned flower in Feng Shui due to its happy relationships and prosperity - I’m looking forward to peony season later this year!

What is Love to you?

With Valentine Day coming up often Love is defined for couples however celebrating love is so much more!!

Love celebrates family, a friend a neighbour!! Sending flowers isn’t just a one day thing and Valentines isn’t just for your other half! Why not celebrate love by sending flowers to that close friend just to say you care or your standing with them during a tough time, that neighbour who is on their own, someone who may have recently lost a love one, a daughter or son just to show them what love is…. Let’s shake up the Valentines ‘norm’ by stepping out the box and creating a new norm!

This year I’m doing mixed coloured British Grown Bouquets and wraps without roses so a perfect treat for anyone….go on give someone special a floral gift, you never know how you may brighten their day!!

Did anyone else feel that little bit of Spring warmth today?

Post my morning workout I headed out with Bea for our walk in the sunshine and the air felt a little warmer, no hat or big coat was required! We ambled along with the sun on our faces, the birds had a different song more excited and vibrant, we spotted the first Egret on the pond and heard the tell tail sound of the kingfisher, foliage signs of cow parsley were emerging and the woodland planted daffodils are poking through

This changed my mood and has helped me have a more productive day, do you feel like that when the weather is warmer and brighter? Oh I’m so looking forward to spring and those lighter nights and morning and that warmth as you step outside. It’s definitely got me excited for my spring weddings and the planning I’m currently doing for them

Anyone else a little tired of the cold weather now?

Im definitely ready for warmer weather and looking forward to the cutting garden to be back in full bloom and hopefully this year there will be more than ever, perfect for those last minute bouquets, weddings, funeral and home decor

There’s lots coming up and I’m so excited by it, I’ll also we laughing my new newsletter which will be packed with great information everything from gardening, weddings, nature walks to things I’ve found useful

It’s been so cold today -5 to be precise, after a long crisp frosty walk with Bea and her doggo besties I’ve spent the rest of the day wrapped in a blanket in my office area of the conservatory going through wedding quotes and planning spring events and it’s got me excited for this years weddings

I’ve so many great weddings coming up this year, all varying in designs and installations, lots of colours and natural wildflower designs and it’s got me excited to be growing flowers towards these. Tomorrows task is to put together some new shelving for the greenhouse to store all the new summer seeds I’ll be sowing very soon

I’ve still some spaces for those last minute weddings this year and my 2026 wedding book is open so do get in touch to have a chat around your flowers

Today would have been my beautiful Grandmas 91st birthday and it’s the first one without her here, as was Christmas, it’s a strange old feeling not ringing her to wish her happy birthday, felt wrong that we didn’t take her Christmas lunch, I’ve missed telling her about what I’m growing in the garden and how proud grandad would have been at the tomatoes I had grown, I’ve missed sharing photos of the weddings and event flowers I’ve created

As I go into 2025 there going to be many firsts as I push Hedge and Berries further and better. I’m excited for this years weddings and event and I still have space for a few more weddings, I have new workshops in the pipeline too among lots of other great things planned so watch this space

When it comes to booking suppliers there’s no time like the present to start enquiring and getting those ideas in, booking consultations as we soon fill up. flowers are one of the big key elements to your day but don’t worry if you don’t have a clue where to start on them that’s where I come in, we look at ideas, colours, styles, designs to get that dream look you want.

Trying to sort through photos of 2024 is a minefield there’s been so many great highlights of weddings and events that have taken place that 10 pictures really isn’t enough to show how thankful I am

In the midst of the highs there have been many hard moments from grief of lost loved ones, the biggest for me was the family matriarch my very much loved Grandma and grief still in goes, as well as suddenly loosing a dear friend and work colleague

But one thing remains is that through everything my faith has never wavered and has got me through those tough times and blessed me incredibly in those good times, has blown me away with what I’ve been able to achieve beyond my own expectations

I am so thankful and appreciative of the support I’ve had from so many people, customer, clients, brides and grooms for your trust in me with everything from wedding flowers, funeral flowers, gift bouquets and so much more. I’m looking forward to what 2025 will bring and excited for the plans I have for Hedge and Berries and as we say goodbye to this year, what you have been through hold tight, don’t loose hope, enjoy every moment - have a very Happy New Year 🥂

That’s me done for 2024!!! A huge big thank you to my customers, clients and supporters for trusting me with your floral delights and dreams this year for everyone who came to one or many of my workshops it’s meant so much that you are supporting local small businesses

My apron and scissors have been put away and I can enjoy the rest of Christmas, I’ll be taking some extended time off hand on florals until 20th January to give me time to rest, catch up on admin, planting seeds and plan the year ahead activities

Have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to more flowers and growing in 2025

Just a little of what I did today! To celebrate British Flowers Week I joined with a number of other great florist and flower farmer friends to create some beautiful sustainable foam free floral designs using purely locally grown British Grown Flowers for our Floral Arrs Trail over at Castle Bromwich gardens and what a great day it was, so many people came along, so many children loving nature, loving the flowers, loving finding the fairies This is why I love using British Grown Flowers and showing off what is florist can really do!
