An Amateur Featherweight Championship battle between

Zak McGee vs Rizwaan Khan

McGee is making his long awaited return to the cage in February, and he is desperate to show off his improvements. Known for his foot-forward fight style and willingness to step in against anyone, this fight is no exception. The One MMA Academy prospect is looking to push a pace on his opponent and add another scalp to his record.

Scotland’s Rizwaan Khan is also no stranger to stepping into the cage against the very best the scene has to offer. Endorsed by fighters such as Cage Warriors veteran Chris Bungard, he has all the support around him to make real waves in 2025. Khan will want to make the trip down from Scotland worth it by putting on a show-stopping performance.

🐺🇬🇧 Wolkernite Fight Championship 6 | 2ND NOV 2024

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone that made Nov 2nd WFC6 a success and wow, what an amazing fight line up with some superb finishes.

With that being said, I would like to take this opportunity to directly address an issue that impacted the last 3 fights out of the 36 total intended.

After bout 33, the cage wooden floorboard panel sustain a fracture which was identified by our officials and they paused the event to conduct an assessment.

Our technical cage engineers assessed the scale of the damage and concluded that although the structural metal frame of the cage was solid and intact, the dent in the wooden floor panel created an uneven surface due to an impact it sustained, which ultimately made it unsafe for fighters to compete.

After serious considerations and with a heavy heart, I concluded that the event could no longer continue due to this technical issue that was beyond anyone’s control.

In addition, all the wood panels used were brand new (industry thickness standard) and the cage did pass independent post assembly checks.

However, moving forward, we will be looking to go beyond the recommended standard and have much thicker than normal panels, in an effort to absorb any excess pressure.

Although this was not ideal for the fighters and teams that committed all the hard work in training, making weight and enduring the full fight camp, I want to apologise, and I am truly sorry that you were let down.

It was not a decision I took lightly to cancel the last 3 fights; however, fighter safety is paramount to our values and ethos, and will not compromise.

Fighting is a difficult sport, so I would like to thank all the fighters and coaches that made it and showed heart and courage.
