Anyone who knows me - really knows me - will tell you that I’m a big Salinger fan, and it’s because of his mastery of words. This is my all time favourite quote which simply proves that words really do matter:

Lie Rutherglen and Cambuslang, so grand.
With histories rich and futures bright,
They bask in dawn’s and dusk’s soft light.

Rutherglen, where stories old,
Whisper of days in times of gold.
Ancient stones and modern streets,
Where past and present gently meet.

As Father's Day approaches, we invite you to share your tributes, memories, pictures and heartfelt messages, whether it's honouring the dads who are no longer with us, expressing thoughts for those who didn't have as much time as they deserved with their dad, or acknowledging those who didn't get the chance to experience fatherhood for as long as they should have.

Have you given any thought to what symbolic gestures you would incorporate into your wedding or vow renewal ceremony? Definitely one of the most popular is drinking from the quaich.

Drinking from the quaich, a two handled cup, is an ancient Scottish tradition that seals the bond of two people, and marks the blending of two families. It symbolizes the love and trust implied by the bond, as the new couple shares the first drink of their marriage together. Traditionally, the quaich would be filled with whisky, but, in more modern times, this has been replaced by drinks that are more appealing to the couple such as prosecco or, indulgently, champagne.

And, of course, a copy of the Ceremony Script to remember as you embark on the next stage of your life journey together.
