Wedding poem
Head down for some serious script writing in Newcastle this weekend…
I am swooning over this amazing highlights video of one of my weddings this summer, kindly shared by the wonderful Faye, Lucas and their photographers/videographers, Alt Wedding Co.
This was SUCH a beautiful wedding. And it was a real privilege to be a little part of it.
If you'd like a little help putting your own wedding promises, or secret letters together, do head over to read the blog post on my website, about writing wedding vows.
In the meantime, enjoy watching this beautiful, beautiful video.... (and thank you for the amazing review on my business Google page, F and L)

WHAT A WEDDING!
Suneet and Gurneet are not religious but they both have big Sikh families and have grown up going to Indian weddings - which are incredible. They chose to have a Sikh wedding day in a temple last week, a registry office ceremony to do the official paperwork, and then a humanist ceremony today, with a massive party for 300+ guests.
I was beaming my head off as I told S&G’s story, which focused gloriously on their personalities. We talked about everything and everyone who’s made them who they are today and we talked extensively about love and commitment.
It was absolutely amazing to have family members and guests come up afterwards and say how different and lovely it was. It was an absolute privilege to work with Suneet and Gurneet, hear all about their culture and traditions and weave everything together into a beautiful big melting pot of old and new, Eastern and Western.
We even had Bollywood / English fusion music played on an electric violin by a Polish musician.
And Suneet and Gurneet (who was STUNNING, and wearing 2 different but equally bejewelled, spectacular wedding dresses today) finished off the ceremony in true Punjabi style, with a shot of whisky!
Yet again, my trusty PA system did a beautiful job of voice amplification - which we needed for the number of guests, because it was outside, and to be louder than the drone over our heads!! So many photographers and videographers buzzing around, it was extraordinary. Such fun. The whole thing felt incredibly multicultural and just amazing. (I LOVE multi cultural weddings and have done loads of different ones but this was my first Sikh audience. )
I HAD to hang around for S&G’s grand entrance to the marquee - just amazing.
Such an honour and an absolute blast to have this job. I put an enormous amount of work into each and every one to make them all different, meaningful and joyous but….. I am SO lucky….
Great to work at the wonderful @hazlewoodcastle again. So proud to
Aaaah my phone just made this little reel, reminding me of this fab wedding back in 2021 at Bolton Castle. Script totally unseen by bride and groom! And Simon @sirastudio on photos. Proper teamwork. What an incredible day. #humanistwedding

Tomorrow we get to see The Law Commission’s report on how England and Wales’ antiquated wedding ceremony laws could be updated to include legal recognition for humanist ceremonies. Then it’s up to the govt to give us the go ahead. . #weddingday #weddingideas #givecoupleschoice #humanistwedding
Yesterday, an hour before the ceremony. Just beautiful. Imagine…. Live music… this is what I’m talking about. I know I keep banging on about live music in ceremonies but when I look around and see how special it feels to everyone in the room, it takes on a whole new level of greatness.
If you’re lucky enough to have live music at your wedding - don’t leave the ceremony out!!! This is the scene setter - the reason for the party!!! This choir made the most beautiful memories. Thank you choir. Thank you Dave on piano. Thank you Nick on clarinet.
Thank you Charlie and Alex for arranging it! Fantastic!
They did Somewhere Only We Know and a rousing version of Sweet Caroline at the end too - a brilliant sing a long!!

Thank you so much to all my couples for all your love and support this summer - it’s soooooo nice to be back doing a proper wedding season and brilliant to get such fab feedback after a ceremony. It’s especially fabulous to be sent an actual card through the post saying how much everyone had enjoyed it and how “you” it was. Thank you so much, Anna and Kev. How flipping gorgeous! Feeling the love…. So when I get round to it there are going to be some cracking reviews to post on my website!! In the meantime, it’s head down for more script writing… photo by @freyaraby

Jan and Ant. A humanist wedding ceremony with celebrant, Rachael Meyer
Wondering what your humanist wedding ceremony could look like? If it looks ANYTHING like Jan and Ant's, you're going to LOVE IT! Have a watch of this beautiful highlights video, shot and edited by Simon (my husband) at Sirastudio - Photography and Video Production in Harrogate.
We had a gorgeous, home made poem read by Lilly, a song - "The One", originally by Kodaline, performed by Ellena, another hilarious home-made poem by Carol, an emotional and joyous love story with a lot of laughs, an emotional exchange of secret letters, bespoke vows, a ring exchange, a hand-fasting AND a jumping of the broom to end the ceremony. We packed in a lot. The song you can hear was sung live during the ceremony by Ellena, Ant's daughter. Not a dry eye, not a dry eye.
Enjoy!
