Happy birthday to you
Mama G***k, Little Jo
Today you would have been
Seventy-four
But we know for a fact
The truth be told
You still would have looked
Like a fifty year old
Not a grey left uncoloured
Not a wrinkle in sight
And in photos you’d make sure
Your neck was pulled tight
We’d sit in the garden
And you’d try to keep cool
By dipping your feet
In a paddling pool
Sipping a cocktail
In the summer sun, while
The grandkids would play
And you’d watch with a smile
There’d be BBQ food
And drinks on the go
And of course birthday cake
For our beautiful Jo
Your garden was always
Your favourite spot
Your own little paradise
Where we partied a lot
So here’s where we’ll rest you
Just like you asked
You’ll be here for the future
As well as the past
Keep watching us always
We’ll look for your signs
When you’re helping us through
The more difficult times
It might be a rainbow
Or a pink and red sky
A song that is playing
Or a white butterfly
However we feel you
However you call
Those signs will be welcomed
No matter how small
So relax in your garden
With the birds and the trees
The beautiful flowers
And warm summer breeze
We’ll honour your birthday
And love you for life
Our magnificent mother
And wonderful wife.
