The Grooms boutonnière is a small buttonhole which is made from a small selection of flowers and plant material which matches the bride’s bouquet. Buttonholes worn at weddings are just as important as any part of the wedding flowers. Care should be taken to ensure that all buttonholes are secure and supplied with pins, or magnets -important please read manufacture’s instructions for the safe use of magnets. I love designing wired buttonholes, they may be small but can be just as special as large designs. 😃

Let me introduce you to the most fantastic removal team - the lads - Lee, Joe & Tom who are super hero’s . They worked so so very hard to move my business and myself over the past 2 days. Gb liners are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated team of employees. They had to move heavy equipment up and down 39 steps and always with a smile. A huge thank you to you all. I would not hesitate to recommend the best removal company in Herefordshire. 😃🙌🙌🙌

How wonderful to come across a rose named Yolande de Aragon from Trevor White Roses in Norfolk. An old rose with strong fragrance, colour and form and she can produce a second flush in the Autumn. I must buy one when available. 😃💕

Polygonatum (Solomon’s seal) is one of my favourite plants. A pretty herbaceous perennial found growing in shady areas. Love it’s graceful stems with delicate bell-like flowers.

The kitchen garden last weekend at 8.00am before the show opened. Such a wonderful stage setting designed by Martin Walker, Sue Brown and consultant chef Stephanie Moon. I love cookery demonstrations having delivered Chinese and Indian cookery sessions at our local Art College. However whilst working at the show myself you do not have the time to browse the show ground, but I do ❤️delivering the live imposed class and interacting with the general public. 💕🌷💕

What a wonderful planted stand , loving my hug from one of the competitors and sad to see an empty booth but what a time we all had at the show. 😃Tuesday and Wednesday were extremely cold but thankfully on Thursday the weather was warm and sunny for the morning, just in time to meet the crowds. I am sure all the exhibitors and visitors have enjoyed the show as much as I have. Another year over roll on 2025. 😃🌷💕🌷💕🌷💕

When you are exhibiting at any show there are many highlights filled with lovely memories but this year one of the best surprises that happened to me was that a young girl came up to the live imposed booth and asked me if she could enter the competition for fun as it looked so exciting. What a lovely surprise, so we quickly put a box of flowers and sundries together and made a space for her on the show bench. She was so happy and filled with confidence at the age of 14. I would never have refused such an enthusiastic person to showcase their talent. She did a fabulous job having learnt her skills at home. The judge marked her as she did all other competitors. I hope this wonderful experience will lead to her perhaps entering the florist industry in the future. She received a commended rosette. 😃💕🌷

Harrogate Spring Flower Show 2024. It has taken myself and Beth Brown a year of planning and hard work in organizing this special event for the show. We are absolutely delighted that the feedback from the LIVE imposed competitions have been so positive by the competitors and general public. Thanks also go to Nick Smith one of the directors for the concept of introduction seating for the audience and a countdown clock ⏱️which assisted myself,and which the audiences absolutely loved. Several competitors and colleges have already informed me that they will be entering this event again next year which gives me great joy as a florist and tutor. It’s only been 2 years since have run this competition, and each year we all learn and grow together and become more successful as a show. Thank you again for inviting me to be part of this amazing show and the first in the gardening calendar.💕🌷🌱🌷🌱🌷🌱😃

Meet our fabulous judges Heather Hume and . Thank you so much for joining and for your wonderful feedback to all the competitors encouraging them to never give up. It is extremely brave for competitors to enter an imposed class where they receive a box of flowers and sundries from for free which they have never seen before and the task is to design an arrangement to be displayed in an Art Gallery the overall title was “Beyond Imagination”. A real challenge. 💕

Well it’s a wrap for another year, 32 competitors entered the competition over a 4 day period. I was delighted to learn that the show has presented a new trophy for the best overall exhibit in the imposed class. Many thanks from to all the competitors who entered the Live imposed class this year, it was fabulous to see such stunning designs on the show bench. A huge, huge, thank you to my team for assisting me Audrey Balderstone who has worked tirelessly for over a week to help me set-up the show. To my amazing judges Heather Hume and for their amazing feedback to the competitors taking the time to explain how the point system is used in floristry and flower arranging competitions and how to improve their skills and techniques for future competitive work. My grateful thanks also go to the show directors for inviting me back for the second year to this extraordinary horticultural show. To the show team behind the scenes who ensure the show runs smoothly and to every show exhibitors who have worked so hard to make the show a great success. Many congratulations to you all. Harrogate Spring Flower Show is only a few weeks away. Come and join Yolanda Blooms at the show and enter the exciting imposed class competitions entitled “Beyond Imagination “ challenge yourself to be even more creative as a competitor. The show bench is where you will learn the most about yourself, let your confidence and creativity grow and have fun, meet new people and enjoy every moment. These images are from a competition which were taken at Harrogate. In 2019 I was approached by a friend Audrey Balderstone to see if I would be interested in representing Watford Floral Society at HSFS as part of the Home Counties Area of NAFAS to compete for their area of which I was a member. The overall title set by the show was “Avenues and Alleyways” our brief was to take inspiration from a street scene”. We had been given the title LONDON. We depicted “The Notting Hill Carnival “. It was hard work but we enjoyed every moment, we learnt so much especially when things go wrong but you learn how to problem solve quickly. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year. 2023 has been a blooming good year. I have travelled both near and far designing weddings in London, meeting amazing couples from Canada, Kent, Surrey and not forgetting my local weddings in the beautiful Counties of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. The most exciting challenge however, was being invited to deliver a “Live Imposed” competition class for Harrogate Spring Show. Harrogate show cases the very best of gardening and horticulture. I am absolutely thrilled to have been invited back again in 2024, I just cannot wait. @harrogateflowershow . What a fabulous day I had yesterday teaching a private group of ladies at my local village hall how to make an Autumn Wreath Ring. Several of the group had long painted stylish nails which were gorgeous,I felt quite jealous because as a florist my nails are short and dirty for most of the day stripping foliages and flowers, arranging hand tied bouquets, brushing the floor and cleaning beached buckets daily so no TLC for my nails unless I go on holiday or a wedding then it’s a real real treat. 😃I had the best group ever we laughed, worked extremely hard and in-between stuffed ourselves with homemade Viennese biscuits,tea and coffe and walnut cake. Prior to having moved back to England I opened the first Flower School in Northern Ireland because I love teaching so much. I have taught accredited courses both in Floristry and Flower arranging at Further and Higher Education Colleges in NI and at Hereford Art College. I could not have asked for better students yesterday who listened, learned and enjoyed learning a new skill, it was such a joy to teach them. Colours of the rainbow. As I drove along the riverside of the Carrington bridge on a busy busy road in Worcester I just had to park up, stop and stare at this magnificent border of wildflowers. The riverside borders have been planted up to encourage the bees and butterflies to improve biodiversity in the area. It made my day and worth a visit. Enjoyed an hour of peace and tranquility at Stockton Bury Gardens today. My favourite garden in Hereford. My first visit was as a floristry student in 1995. It’s a magical place. Brilliant cafe and delicious food. A garden to be visited throughout the seasons. ❤️it.🍃🌱
