2024 Instagram challenge

DAY 8: – SHELFIE – Today is the last day of this year’s challenge

Thank you to Sarah at Pencil me in, Elgin, for once again, organising this year’s challenge. We’ve been doing these since she started them, although we missed last year due to family commitments. It’s good for our customers to see the thoughts and processes and work that goes into making small businesses work. It’s also good to make us think outside the box a bit and tell people what we might not think they’d like to know.

It’s me (Ellie) who does all of our social media and sometimes I struggle to know what to write. I don’t plan my posts, instead I mostly just tell you about what happened during the day, so being forced to think ahead and plan posts is a bit alien to me. However, being forced to think ahead and plan posts around a particular prompt has made me think about what you might want to see in our daily posts. So I want to use today’s prompt to ask you what you want us to tell you …

What do you want to know about us? Do you like our (almost) daily posts? Do you like knowing how many refills we’ve done on a daily basis? Do you like us adding in our personal thoughts and feelings and including what we do on our days off or do you want our posts to be purely shop related? These are all things that we’d like to know so we can better understand what you, our customers want from us. Don’t be shy, please tell us if our posts are useful or just complete rubbish.

Is there enough content about Fairtrade; the local artists that we support; our foodie items; etc?

Would you like to see posts on a particular theme or hashtag?

Do you prefer our normal ad hoc daily non-sensical bletherings, or have you preferred this week’s more structured approach?

Please let us know. It is you, our valued customers, who keep us going. It is your support, encouragement, and suggestions that over the past 17 years has enabled us to grow. We love it that we base our future plans on your suggestions, so please keep them coming!

And that’s a wrap for this year’s My Shop Life Instagram (and Facebook) challenge!

Normal service will be resumed from tomorrow – unless you tell us otherwise 😉

Today’s refills: 68
Overall total: 41,502

Have you met the new Operational Manager for Greenmyres EcoBothy?

Mike Gifford came to us from Sport Aberdeen where he was the Adventure Aberdeen Manager.
He has over 20 years’ experience of instructing outdoor activities and managing outdoor centres, delivering programmes of adventurous activities and outdoor learning programmes.

He’s hit the ground running and has already had a big impact on the site as we get ready for the new pump track and other facilities to open. Keep an eye on our socials for the countdown to our Open Day celebration in June!

If you’d like to drop him a line directly to chat about use of the site or booking the bothy for your event you can email him on [email protected]

Happy trails!

Please share 🖤

Our good friend Dave Thorne was tragically taken from us on 5th March whilst riding his beloved VFR with family following in their car. Michelle, Dave’s widow has asked for a bike cortège to es**rt him from WG Catto Funeral Parlour Linkwood, Elgin, to the Buckie Crematorium on Wednesday 27th March. Leaving at 1.15pm for the service at 2.30.
There will be a wake after in the Ex Servicemen’s Club Elgin, nr Council Buildings.
Please try to make the ride and show our unity for a much loved member of the biking fraternity.
Let’s make Michelle and the family proud ❤️
