There's something so pure about white flowers 🤍
This is a faux wedding bouquet I made recently, using a mixture of florals to give texture and interest.
Peony, scabious, waxflower, and Eucalyptus were just some of the flowers and foliage used.
Faux flowers are becoming increasingly popular as they can be made in advance, stored ready for the big day, and even sold or re-purposed afterwards.

I am LOVING dried flowers!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed making this dried floral wreath. I made on a straw ring with Spanish moss as a base. Bound to the ring with decorative copper coloured wire for stability and style.
These are nice and light, making hanging a doddle, perfect to hang in the home, or gifting to a loved one.
Dried flowers do like a steady environment temperature wise, and they prefer to be kept away from direct sunlight and little fingers!

Aren't these just the cutest buttonholes! Sonja sunflowers are a smaller variety, making them the perfect choice 🌻
Buttonholes can be made with a variety of flowers, they need to last the entire day so longer lasting flowers like roses, spray roses, sunflower (mini) carnations and Gyp are just a few options to choose from!

Here are a few of my favourite tulips from my recent trip to Keukenhof in Holland.
Did you know that tulips are phototropic? This means they carry on growing after being cut, and they will always grow towards a light source. This is why, in a vase arrangement, you will find your tulips grown taller than first arranged!
My favourites have to be the parrot tulips!
Pretty in pink! I picked up this stunning vase a while ago on my travels, knowing I wouldn't be able to resist making something in it!!
I made this Faux flower display for the recent wedding fayre i attended at venue 16.
The beauty of Faux flowers is having the chance to play with lots of different options.
I used clear pot tape to make a grid on the top of my vase, creating a grid to slot the flowers into. This meant that my arrangement was foam free, creating a more eco design!

Gypsophila is one of those flowers that is either loved, or hated. Just like Marmite!!
Gyp has always been a great filler flower for bouquets, arrangements, circlets, and, of course, buttonholes.
Being white it also compliments most colour schemes and themes. This beautiful wedding had a dusky pink and white theme, so I finished the buttonholes with satin ribbon to tie in the colours 🩷

Dried flowers are just as beautiful as fresh but will definitely last longer if looked after!
They can be very delicate and prefer a dry warm space to be displayed, the sun can also bleach the colour so this is something to think about when choosing the perfect spot.
Introducing Rose Sweet Avalanche 🩷 isn't she a stunner!
The general rule of thumb with roses is: the longer the stem, the larger the head size. This is always good to remember when making wedding or event designs.
These were 60cm stems, and boy, weren't they magnificent. Just look at that petal structure. Simply beautiful! 😍

Dried flowers are certainly making a comeback! There is a wide range of flowers available now, and the quality is amazing.
I always think handling dried flowers will be the same as fresh, but they have such a different feel to them. They can be quite delicate and being dried, they don't always go where you want them!
They are becoming increasingly popular for weddings and events too. Arrangements can be made in advance and stored somewhere cool and dry. They could be given away after your event, a little something for your guests to keep as a memory of the day!

These tulips remind me of sweets! They are grown to perfection and are perfectly patterned, too.
There were so many varieties at Keukenhof Gardens. You really are spoilt for choice! One to tick off my bucket list.
Tulips have definitely grown on me, year by year. I never really appreciated their true beauty, but I do now!!!
Freesias have such a dreamy scent to them. They are available all your round and come in such wonderful colours and shades
As they are a natural product, it can always be hard to tell how long they will take to open, this is something to take into consideration when making designs for an event or wedding.
Us florists do have a couple of tricks up our sleeves when it comes to speeding up the development process, though! 😉

Lillies are like marmite. You either love them or hate them!
Lillies are not a flower I would generally choose, but when I use them, I really do love them. They have such a dramatic presence, and I do love their smell too.
✂️ Top tip: When the stamen are still a brown colour and soft/smooth, you can easily pic them out. Once they turn a fluffy orange colour, that's when the pollen has developed and they will stain.
If you get pollen on your clothes, never rub it. Grab some sellotape and gently dab to lift the pollen off.

Here we have SIS made using floral foam letters, ribbon edging in lilac poly ribbon, based in white double chrysanthemum, with lilac lisianthus and foliage sprays.
Such a pretty design and colour scheme. Even though we are all trying to be a little more eco. Unfortunately, these designs still need a floral foam base.... however, most frames have been switched over to bio foam, which is a step in the right direction!

Now, a shower bouquet is one of my favourites. That beautiful teardrop shape really does make a statement.
