𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐥 - 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐧!

King’s Lynn has hosted the first-ever Robert Armin Day, marking 460 years since the birth of the Shakespearean actor and comedian who helped shape the Bard’s greatest plays.

Over 500 schoolchildren filled the Minster where Armin was baptised in 1565, for lively performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth by 440 Theatre.

Armin, who succeeded Will Kempe as Shakespeare’s leading clown, is now recognised as one of the most influential comic voices in English theatre.

Spearheaded by Tim FitzHigham, Creative Director of St George’s Guildhall, organisers hope this new annual celebration will keep King’s Lynn’s vital link to Shakespeare’s stage alive.
