Flowers have really started now! And thankfully I picked for this bouquet before the torrential rain! Alliums, peonies, foxgloves, alchemilla, grasses, nepeta - all grown by yours truly. And a great model in second pic!

Lots of perennials available for picking at this time of year. Annuals should be flowering by June. In this large jamjar - alliums, aquilegia, choisya and geums.

Aren’t beach trees fabulous at this time of year. The leaves start off so tightly curled that you don’t think they are going to do anything, but they gradually unfurl to give us this stunning spring green - despite the weather!

Some late April bloomers - cow parsley, wisteria, lilac and of course lots of fresh green growth.

Peony tulips have been my favourite tulip variety this year. Stunning and good vase life. Arranged here with the perennial cornflower and my first alliums of the year - the dainty allium cowanii.

After sweetie shops tulips, time for sweetie shop ranunculus. A bit of effort to grow these especially as I don’t have a polytunnel - but when you see these beauties it is worth it!

Little garden selection - snowball viburnum which is such a great shape and colour although can be a bit diva-ish in the vase and aphids love them! + bluebells + choisya.

So lucky to live near ancient woods whose floors are carpeted with bluebells at this time of year. I managed a visit when it was very quiet. Me, the trees, the bluebells and the occasional dog walker!

Lovely to see local flower meadows starting to burst into flower. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but yellow and pink are very common in wild flowers. I’m not sure why but they do bring me joy!

Joyful flowers - butterfly ranunculus, tulips, geum and bluebells. Lovely to have fresh flowers grown by me again!

Isn’t it amazing how nature changes in such a short time? We are just back after a week away and the amount of growth - lots of lovely zingy spring green everywhere from new leaves - is amazing. I am sure the couple of days of sunshine helped everything along. Such a positive time of year. Do you agree?
