Todayโs hidden gem are a pair of reservoirs nestled in the Southern Uplands. Starting from Moffat, thereโs a 35 mile round trip which takes you past the Grey Mareโs Tail waterfall on the A708 and after turning left at Cappercleuch a narrow country road winds its way through the majesty of Scotlandโs Southern Uplands passing alongside Megget then Talla reservoirs until it ends at the A701. There are viewing points where you can stop and admire the beautiful scenery.
Best of all, unlike the Lake District, this hidden gem isnโt inundated with tourist traffic.
The exposed brick wall in our upstairs function room, is one of my favourite things about the space ๐

This waterfall is one of the UK's highest, plunging 60m down into the Moffat Water Valley. It takes just under an hour to drive to, with beautiful views along the way ๐

For the 2nd in our posts about some of the hidden gems in our area, we thought we'd share a wee video of Carrick Beach which is near Kirkcudbright and is around an hour and a quarter away.
The video doesn't do the area justice as it was taken from a higher vantage point that doesn't show the beach itself. It does though show the turquoise waters and when the tide goes out, there's a causeway you can walk across to the nearest island.
