A small but fun dedicated crowd of quizzers assembled for "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" week 218 this evening. A few of our lovely regulars were missing, Quizlamic State, Ragnarok Ravers, Nutmeg & The Miaowists, Debz Doez Dubz, Damp Squib (though she came along and watched the final round), Dr Poorly (tried to sign in from Canada but sounded like a Dalek with a stutter), Don't Expect Much, One Brian, and probably others I've forgotten to mention. But we few, we happy few, we band of nutters, had a splendid evening. It was incredibly close scoring throughout and the lead swapped hands many times, but in the end Old Yorkshire Gold stole through for a famous and well deserved victory.

We had a slightly smaller field compared to the turn out last week on "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" week 217. We had a few missing familiar faces this week, no Same as Last Week, no Yorkshire Gold, no Meatballs, no Dr Poorly, no Don't Expect Much, no One Brian and sadly still no Ragnarok Ravers, we do miss 'em!

Our theme this week was Televangelists in the USA and PRAISE BE, we had a fun evening. It was a pretty close battle all the way through and Quizlamic State did superbly in the Sausage Sandwich game, probably because the questions were all Halal.

Final scores were: 1st That F-ing Drive 70 2nd New Dog on the Block 68 3rd Nutmeg & the Miaowists 67.5 4th Mr & Mrs Judas 60 5th Quilamic State 59 6th Damp Squib 58.5 7th Debz Doez Dubz 50. Top scoring all round!

A big night on Check Your Knollige 216 with Good King Hal. Big turn out of 11 teams, and we were missing Quizlamic State, Ragnarok Ravers, AND Meatballs! We were blessed with the presence of Brian Riches, a new player and his team with the wonderful name of One Brian. He did admirably, put up with all our crap, but sadly just came last but with a very good score. The lead changed hands several times, and if I hadn't got Cathy's question wrong she would have won by a country mile.

A little weekly quiz, that I started online to help alleviate boredom and connect people together during the first lockdown, has recently celebrated its 4th anniversary. We had a get together "IRL" as the teenagers say at my sister's place last night. We have made some great friends in the 4 years of nonsense and fun, and long may it continue. To all those that came along last night, or who have taken part over the years, thank you! Its been such fun writing this quiz every week. Thank you for making me laugh every week without fail. You are all wonderful.

We had a wonderful night on the 215th week of "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal". It was a lovely turn out, and we were missing a few regular faces like Quizlamic State, Nutmeg & the Miaowists, Ragnarok Ravers, That F-ing Drive, and Don't Expect Much. It was a really closely fought competition with the lead swapping from Russ, to Simon, to Rik and Lindsey, and Debz bubbling under. In the end, it was as close a it could get! Rik and Lindsey did very well on the Sausage Sandwich Game which always helps! I also got Ron and Carol's question right, which ruined their score - sorry!

Last night, "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" rumbled onto its 214th week, coming to you "LIVE" via a slightly dodgy internet connection from Tan Y Lan Farm near Kidwelly in rural Wales. We had a pretty good turn out only missing Damp Squib, Ragnarok Ravers, New Dog on the Block and Don't Expect Much. Russ smashed it as usual, scoring heavily throughout the contest and waltzed off to another highly impressive victory. Ron and Carol scored well too and would have won easily any other week. Crazy Horses by the Osmonds sent Dr Poorly crazy himself, but it was the nearest we got to a Lowestoft moment.

A better turn out this week for "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" at week 213. It was really a two-horse race all the way. Carol and Ron were superb, but Russ was just in one of those grooves where he could tell you virtually anything. Why didn't I ask him the answer to life, the universe and everything??? We were missing the Ragnarok Ravers, Damp Squib, New Dog on the Block, Quizlamic State, and Debz Doez Dubz. We hope to see them all very soon.

We had more pull outs this evening than a Catholic Family Planning instruction manual. So it was a very small selection of teams, and it got even smaller as the quiz went on! Missing in action tonight were Same as last Week, New Dog on the Block, Debz Doez Dubz, Meatballs, Dr Poorly, Damp Squib, Ragnarok Ravers, and probably hundreds more. Of the six teams present, Quizlamic State were with us, then gone, with us, then gone, back again then gone for good, sadly. We do miss our little hairy chap when that happens. New comers, Don't Expect Match put up a great fight, and after a particularly successful Sausage Sandwich Game came perilously close to a remarkable victory.

We arrived at week 211 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal, and it was a great contest. Meatballs grabbed the sausage sandwich game with both hands and ran with it, smashing all three questions. We were missing Old Yorkshire Gold, Quizlamic State, Debz Doez Dubz, and inevitably the Ragnarok Ravers. Don't Expect Much started the first round, but Emma wasn't feeling too well, so they bade us farewell. We also had Damp Squib with us, but she suddenly vanished halfway through the second round. Such a shame. But there is always next week. Same as Last Week celebrated retiring from work this week by smashing the opposition with a fabulously ruthless display! When on that form the man is unstoppable.

It was a lovely evening as we congregated for week 210 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal. We were missing a few of our regulars, no Same as Last Week, no Debz Doez Dubz, no New Dog on the Block, no Ragnarok Ravers, no Don't Expect Much and we lost Meat Balls after a couple of rounds as she had to go and have a baby in Exeter, as you do. It was a low scoring competition and there was some comments about how difficult I'd made it! I also upset That F-ing Drive by getting her question right - and not a single point was scored in the Sausage Sandwich Game between Dr Poorly and Mrs Judas! It was victory by one point for Nutmeg & The Miaowists from Damp Squib!

I think it's fair to say that not many of our quizzers are going to be queueing up to join the Bryan Adams fan club. Or mine. But I digest. It was the beginning of our 5th year on Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal as we reached week 209. We had a close fought race until we reached the last question - naming lyrics from Bryan Adams' "Summer of 69". I am expecting a house bricks through my window over the next week. Sorry. We were still missing The Ragnarok Ravers, but I have heard some rumours of a new laptop, plus Debz Doez Dubz who was off at the cinema with Amy Winehouse, and Don't Expect Much who were poorly. We also had a supergoup with a mixture of Nutmeg & The Miaowists, That F-ing Drive, and Old Yorkshire Gold who became That Old F-ing Yorkshire Miaowists. And they LOVED Bryan Adams.

Four years on from our first get together, "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" reached week 208! We had a big turn out - we were missing some regular chums, like Meatballs who was checking her son's leak in a kitchen in Bristol (as you do), Quizlamic State who was explaining the evils of alcohol to a devout band of followers in Southend, Damp Squib who couldn't find the link, and the Ragnarok Ravers, who are still in Valhalla, but sans a laptop. Proceedings opened when we sang "Happy Birthday" to my father, as the quiz coincided with his 87th birthday. It was a spirited and high scoring competition, the lead exchanging hands a few times, but like the 1st anniversary, and 2nd, it was a triumph for perennial winner Russ! Well done, Russ! Here is to the next four years!

With one week to go before our 4th Anniversary Quiz we had a fine turn out for Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal week 207! Our main friends missing in action were New Dog on the Block taking Sarge out for his 9th surprise dinner of an extended birthday celebration season, Debz Doez Dubz, The Ragnarok Ravers, and Don't Expect Much (who this week had no excuse, just didn't turn up!). There were battles galore, the lead changed hands various times, and I got some people's questions right which mucked up their evenings (sorry!) but we had a clear winner by the end.
