Remembering Halo 💫 My Favourite Wedding Moment of Last Year 💫

Out of the 100+ weddings we were part of last year, this one will always have a special place in my heart. On 10th November, we spent the day and evening with the most gorgeous German Shepherd boy, Halo.

Halo’s at that stage in life where his body isn’t quite what it used to be. He’s sadly dealing with incontinence, weakness in his back legs, and dementia. When I met with Halo’s dad a few weeks before the wedding, it was clear just how much he meant to their family—he’s not just their dog; he’s family, and his dad’s absolute best mate.

It was a bittersweet moment, knowing Halo was facing those struggles, but also seeing just how much they loved him—so much so that they couldn’t imagine their day without him by their side.

Halo was absolutely delighted to see his mum and dad again when I brought him along to House for an Art Lover for their photos. The love in this moment says it all—unconditional, pure, and utterly heartwarming. 🐾❤️

Thank you for trusting us with Halo and letting us share in such a beautiful and emotional day.
This is exactly why we do what we do. 🖤

******

We were heartbroken to learn that Halo passed away just before Christmas. He was truly one of a kind, and it was a privilege to know him and be part of such a special day in his life. Halo, we hope you’re running free in endless snowy fields, surrounded by love. Your mum and dad miss you deeply, and we know how much joy and light you brought to their lives. Thank-you, Halo, for being part of ours too. 🫶🏻

I’ve been dying to share this wedding with you! 2024 was a whirlwind year—manic at times, but moments like this remind me why I love what I do.

This wedding was extra special. Not only did it fall on my wedding anniversary, but it was our first elopement and our first trip to the breathtaking Glencoe—a triple milestone for Hounds & Heritage!

The dramatic October weather brought its challenges—mud, wet paths, and sludge—but the warmth and friendliness of the couple, their family, and the suppliers made the day feel so joyful and welcoming.

I spent the day with the sweetest Hungarian Vizsla, Ru (short for Rupert), and we were best pals from the moment I arrived. Vizslas are known for being stubborn, loyal, and vocal, but Ru was the perfect gentleman and left the stubbornness and volume at home! He sat like a superstar during the ceremony at Ralston Cairn, fueled by plenty of treats, and joined his parents for jaw-dropping photos across Glencoe.

It’s not just about making sure dogs look the part; it’s about ensuring they enjoy the day as much as their humans—rain, mud, or shine. Ru was an absolute star, and this day was one I’ll never forget. 🐾

Every year, I get asked, “What’s the most popular breed you see the most of?” Last year, it was undoubtedly the cockapoos—we had them coming out of our ears! 🐾

This year, while cockapoos are still stealing hearts, it feels like the year of the dachshunds! With so many already on the books and even more funnelling in with quotation requests, these little charmers are certainly having their moment. ✨

One of my absolute favourite weddings last year featured Ralph, the dachshund, in July. If you know me, you’ll know how much I love involving dogs in their own confetti shots—it’s become a bit of a Hounds & Heritage signature! It’s such a fun way to capture the playful side of our couples and their furry family members. 🫶🏻

I can’t wait to share more dachshund wedding magic this year—watch this space! 🖤

Dalduff Farm in Maybole has been a popular venue for us lately, and we couldn’t resist sharing a little throwback to Emma and Robbie’s stunning wedding on 2nd November 2024, featuring their fox red Labrador, Enzo 🐾.

Enzo had such an important role in their big day. From happily greeting guests with his wagging tail 🐕‍🦺 to making a touching appearance during the ceremony 💍, and, of course, stealing the spotlight in the couples’ photos 📸. While he did feel a little overwhelmed at times and needed a few breaks, his absolute favourite place was right by his mum and dad’s side ❤️.

Dalduff is a brilliant dog-friendly venue, with plenty of outdoor space for dogs to run free securely—which is always handy for those candid photo moments! 🐶✨

The day itself was effortlessly beautiful—relaxed, with wellies 🥾, warm autumnal tones 🍂, and some of the friendliest guests. Enzo was the perfect addition to such a warm and heartfelt celebration, bringing his own charm and love to an already unforgettable day 🐕❤️.

And just like that… we’re back!

After a much-needed break starting in early December, we’re finally back and ready to dive into 2025. While we wrapped up a few beautiful weddings in December and even kicked off the year on January 3rd at the stunning Lodge on Loch Lomond, taking that time off was the best decision I’ve ever made.

It gave me the chance to focus on what truly matters: being present with my family and recharging for the year ahead. It also provided a fresh perspective on what’s working (and what’s not) in the business. So, we’re back with a few exciting changes and absolutely raring to go!

This year, we’ve got 75 wonderful weddings on the books—just over half of last year—but it’s all about quality over quantity for us now. No more proving ourselves by comparison; it’s all about embracing what makes us unique and continuing to create unforgettable moments for you and your furry companions.

I can’t wait to meet you all, introduce you to our ever-growing team, and be part of your cherished moments, no matter how big or small.

For now, here’s a wee glimpse of one of our last weddings of 2024—Leo the Golden Retriever at the beautiful Carberry Tower on December 7th. 🐾✨

Here’s to another amazing year ahead! 🖤

Welcome to Hounds & Heritage!

‼️ Notice of December 2024 Leave ‼️

As this remarkable year draws to a close, I have decided to take most of December off to focus on my health, my family, and the future direction of Hounds & Heritage. This year has been truly record-breaking, from the number of weddings we’ve been honoured to attend to the growth of our service and the relationships we’ve built with all of you. However, alongside these achievements have come personal challenges that now require time for reflection and recovery.

While I will still be available to fulfil any commitments for weddings and essential meetings during December, most other responsibilities will be placed on hold. This time away is much-needed, both to process the impact of my stroke and to recognise where my mind and body are urging me to pause and reflect. Despite the amazing strides made this year, I’ve come to realise that I have been pushing myself to a point where I am now feeling the effects both physically and mentally. Your understanding in allowing me this time is deeply appreciated.

The support I’ve received from so many of you has been unwavering, and it has meant the world to me. You’ve often described me as ‘some woman’ and a ‘Trojan,’ and these words have carried me forward, keeping me going on the hardest days. At the same time, balancing a desire to be fully honest with the reality of how that honesty may be received hasn’t always been easy. Part of this time off is about recognising that I returned to work sooner than I should have. While it has been a joy to be involved in each of your special days, this early return has come at a personal cost that may not always be visible. I need this time to truly focus on healing and growth, and I’m so grateful for your understanding in giving me the space to do that.

This December, I plan to immerse myself in the festive season, spend precious time with my family, and create space to reflect on the past year. I am also taking this opportunity to look ahead, ensuring that Hounds & Heritage is ready to serve our clients with even greater dedication and care in 2025. I am incredibly grateful for the trust you place in us, and my commitment to each of you and your pets remains unwavering as we continue to evolve. I am dedicated to making every experience with Hounds & Heritage exceptional as we move forward.

In addition, I am working on an exciting new project that I’m incredibly passionate about, which I believe will bring even more value to the wedding community. While Hounds & Heritage remains close to my heart, I’m thrilled to explore fresh opportunities that will allow me to serve in new ways. As I take this time to rest and reflect, I look forward to returning in January with renewed energy and insight to make 2025 an exceptional year for all of you.

Working with each of you and your wonderful pets has been a privilege, bringing countless moments of joy, laughter, and inspiration. It is these connections that drive me to keep growing and exploring new ways to support the wedding community. As we enter the festive season, I hope each of you has a chance to relax, celebrate, and cherish time with loved ones—two-legged and four-legged alike!

Thank you once again for your understanding, and I wish you all a peaceful holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year.

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Hounds & Heritage Weddings has been nominated for the Couples Choice Award at the 2025 Scottish Wedding Awards!

This marks our third year in a row as finalists since establishing our full-time service in 2021, and we couldn’t be more grateful. A massive thank you to everyone who nominated us, and to each of our wonderful couples – your support means the world to us.

Being recognised alongside some of Scotland’s finest wedding suppliers is truly an honour. We’re excited to celebrate this journey with you all, and we can’t wait for February’s awards night – an evening where we get to come together, celebrate, and reflect on the magic of the Scottish wedding industry.

Starting today, we’ll be turning off the Facebook messaging feature to streamline all communications.
We kindly ask that you reach out to us either through WhatsApp or email moving forward. With messages coming in from multiple platforms, it’s becoming increasingly challenging to manage, and WhatsApp is our primary communication tool.

Additionally, we’re adjusting our working hours to ensure we’re not answering inquiries and general FAQs late into the night.

Your trust in us to take care of your beloved pets on one of the most important days of your life is something I never take for granted.

Yesterday, I wrapped up my last wedding at the Sherbrooke Castle Hotel before i head off on holiday this week. It was a beautiful, relaxed, and intimate celebration with the bride and groom’s closest loved ones, including their adorable pup, Bonnie. True to her name, Bonnie was an absolute sweetheart, eager for affection from everyone she met. 🫶

The morning didn’t go entirely without a hitch, though. When I picked Bonnie up from the groomsmen at Po***ck Park, I discovered she had decided to cool off in a patch of grey, powdery mud that seemed impossible to clean off. With the heat in mind, we shortened her morning walk and jumped right into grooming. Without access to a plug for the dryer, I couldn’t give Bonnie a full bath, so the grooming took a bit of stressful hour and a half to complete. ✨

Despite the hiccup, we arrived at the venue with plenty of time before the 3 p.m. ceremony. I had the chance to catch up with some of the main suppliers—Julie-Anne Whyte, the photographer, and Paul Browett, the celebrant—as well as the bride and her bridal party, who were all excited to see Bonnie before getting into their dresses. 💛

With about 35 guests, the wedding was wonderfully intimate. Bonnie charmed everyone as they arrived, and then we waited for her “mummy” to come down the stairs. Bonnie offered a quick hello and some comfort before the bride made her way to the ceremony room. The ceremony itself was short and sweet, lasting around 20 minutes. Bonnie played her part perfectly, delivering the rings and gazing adoringly at her parents as they exchanged vows. 🫶

After the ceremony, Bonnie was a natural during the photo session, posing like a pro. We then spent the rest of the evening enjoying cuddles until midnight when I handed her back to the bride and groom to say our goodbyes.

This was probably one of the only times I’ll ever hear a bride say she wants her dogs off-lead and able to swim freely on her wedding day.

Victoria was adamant that Jonty and Otis should enjoy the moment with her and Stuart. I even joked that I’d need written confirmation that she didn’t mind getting her dress muddy! 🤣

I’ve never been at a wedding where the bride was so unconcerned about getting muddy, wet, or jumped on. It was refreshing and so much fun!

They did their couple, dog, and family photos first, and then let the boys have their fun.

It brought a tear to my eye watching this unfold— as it’s such a rare and special moment.

Since they didn’t book a videographer, we made sure to capture these memories for them to cherish for years to come.
