The delivery of your bridal bouquet is the first glimpse of your wedding florals and always makes things feel a bit more real, like ‘yes I’m getting married today’!

I love creating individual florals, using the best ingredients the season has to offer, making no two designs the same. When Kat and I discussed a dream she’d had about her bridal bouquet, she told me that in this dream she was carrying a bunch of asparagus and in her words ‘didn’t hate it’! When I went to collect her flowers from the flower farmer I spotted some asparagus growing, and so in honour of the dream, I slipped in a couple of spears to her bouquet. This little touch made Kat smile as I delivered her beautiful, bridal bouquet packed with seasonal British ingredients.

I’m so grateful to my couples, customers, fellow florists, flower growers, and industry colleagues for enabling me to keep doing what I love. Lots of personal growth, and firsts for me and Elder & Iris this year. First time flowering in another country, creating florals in the desert in Morocco, working on an award winning garden at the RHS Chelsea flower show for .london, and becoming a published author. I’ve also got to create florals for more beautiful weddings and work with some fantastic flower farmers, continuing to strengthen my love and use of British flowers in my floral designs.

Feeling gratitude for where I am, and excitement for what’s to come.

Every year I love to dress my fire place. This one has to be my favourite yet. The smell of juniper, pine, and fir are so evocative of Christmas. Its smell so good. Handmade bells, bows and oranges add the final touch and complement the tree with is matching handmade orange decorations, and dried flower baubles.

I made a time lapse of me making it, until I started putting the bows on when i got too focused on the bells and whistles (quite literally) that I forgot to carry on recording! Do you want to see it?

I’m in the process of renovating our house (long old process, another story) but as I search for interior inspiration I’m drawn more and more to the 70’s. I made this wreath a few weeks back and shared it to my stories, but thought I’d give it a spot on the grid. It’s giving Mocha Mousse and is just an example that wreaths need not only be green, or displayed on your front door. This one is defiantly for the house!

It’s Friday! Today also marks 11 years since I went into hospital to have my twins who didn’t arrive until the early hours of the Monday morning! After entering the 7th circle of hell (if you know, you know) my twins made me a mummy. I don’t often share personal stories on here but birthdays, and in particular my children’s birthdays always make me reflect. It’s no secret to those that know me personally that I’ve wanted to give them another sibling and that sadly has not worked out for us. After three very painful miscarriages our rainbow was not to be. I am however incredibly greatful for what I do have, and I’m looking forward to celebrating them this weekend.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. Thank you for following, thank you for supporting, thank you for choosing this flower loving, love loving small business. I always say that once their birthday has been we can really get into Christmas! So expect to see lots of wreaths and festivities over the coming weeks.

Callum and Becky, a celebration of love, family and friends at their ceremony at Thwaite Mills back in August. One of the last weddings to be held there.

Friends and family got together to make it a truly personal day. All British flowers and foliage were used, with buckets of flowers provided for them to make DIY bud vases. We created a backdrop that was used for the humanist ceremony, and moved to the reception area afterwards. All the textures, all the scents, all the love.

One of the things I most love about my job as a wedding floral designer is getting to know the people who’s day I’ll be playing a part of. I loved Ellie’s energy and ideas, connecting instantly over flowers, colours and creativity during our first call. Looking at Ellie and Adams photo gallery there’s so many good photos! Not only because they also chose a really great photographer in but because they went with a style that spoke to their personalities and lifestyle.

Ellie wasn’t afraid to change things she thought she wanted earlier in the planning process, and we worked together to bring this to life. Their wedding wasn’t super flower heavy either. Now you may think that as a floral designer I’d be opposed to this, but that’s not the case. I love it when a space is styled well, and details considered, be that with candles, flowers or in this case disco balls! (Bloody love a disco ball!)

If you’re planning a wedding here’s my advice: pick suppliers who’s work you admire, and who you feel trust in to bring your vision to life. Don’t feel you ‘have to do this or have that’, have fun, and most of all be you!

Personalising your space, and adding impact!

When planning your wedding florals, it’s important to think of how you want to feel in your space, and how much you want to make it personal to you. For some the focus isn’t so much on the ceremony space since you spend a relatively short time in this space compared with the reception. Here’s the thing though, the ceremony is arguably the most important part of the day, the place where the next chapter in your story begins! The space where you’ll have lots of photos taken and the space you and your guests first experience. It’s great to use floral pieces that can be repurposed from your ceremony into the reception where possible such as floral urns and candles, although this is not always possible and it’s important to discuss your ideas with your floral designer. Food for thought!

Seasonally led florals.

I’m constantly trying to grow and develop my craft as a floral designer, and I’m really enjoying making things for my own creative pursuit, embracing the materials that are available in the season.

This wreath is made on a willow base that I twisted into a a ring, hydrangea that I dried, Amaranthus (of course), limonium, fennel, panicum grass, beach and birch.

Not sure if to add this to my front door or just enjoy it in the house?

What do you think I should do?
