Wow!!! I've got something very special and unmissable lined up for this month's Acoustic Session. Our feature act is the fabulous Innovative Acoustic Folk and Roots duo Wildwood Jack. They are a full time professional touring act from Kent and we are lucky enough to catch mid tour. This lovely husband and wife team bring an intimate, heartwarming and adventurous spirit to their music and to audiences wherever they play.
It would be awesome to see some of you there. Please, bring yourselves, bring your instruments and most importantly, bring your friends. Either way, come along and enjoy the atmosphere, you're all welcome here! 🙂

I'm delighted to say that I have managed to organise a very rare manifestation of Phantom Horse. This lovely band owes its genesis to Guy's Acoustic Session, having been formed in its early days some 15-20 years ago. Featuring an eclectic mix of country, bluegrass, americana and rock n roll, there's something for everybody. Plus a healthy dose of infectious humour. It's very rare to see us all in the same place these days so please come and join us for some music and fun..

Fantastic News! This month I've managed to secure the services of Paul Morrell and Mark Mudge. These two fine gentlemen are no strangers to Guy's Acoustic Session but it has been quite a while since we've seen them. Combining a wonderful and eclectic mix of contemporary music covers with fine vocals and great musicianship they are a force to be reckoned with and a rare treat.

I'm really excited to announce this month's feature act, Eliza Wren Payne. Her beautiful songs, delicate guitar playing and incredible voice will simply mesmerise all her come to see her. In 2020 she had a highly acclaimed one woman show at the Edinburgh Festival as her alter ego Wrenne, in which she explores her interest in electronic music. On Monday however, she will be displaying her considerable talent acoustically.

I'm so looking forward to next Monday, I've got a great feature act lined up in the guise of the Leen Valley Band. I do so enjoy playing with these lovely people. Between them they have a massive wealth of talent, experience and material drawn from playing the music for the best part of a lifetime. Plus I get to play some mandolin 😁

Hurrah! The last Monday in the month is nearly upon us!!!
I'm delighted to announce that this month's feature act is Mick Mangan. Mick is a wonderful performer, guitarist, singer and a first rate songwriter. So much so that I've heard other performers singing his songs. You can't get higher praise than that. Now based in Bristol, I've managed to persuade Mick to come and regale us with his music so I hope you can come and join us.

Please accept my apologies for my radio silence this month. This has been for a number of reasons, firstly, March's Session is taking place on Monday the 1st of April. Secondly, I have not been successful in acquiring a feature artist this month. Therefore I've decided to do a feature spot myself along with whatever friends I can muster to come and join me. So, this month's feature act is no lesser person than Guy Rogers himself.
As always, all musicians and singers welcome as is anybody who just wants to come and listen. Don't forget to bring your friends 🙂

I've got something really special for our featured act this month, I have managed to persuade this wonderful band Looma to come and perform for us.
Formed in 2017, Looma have played clubs, pubs, parties and festivals around the Midlands and further afield, winning an enthusiastic and loyal following. Three parts English, one part Orkney, and recently described as Leicester’s ‘superb Roots combo’, Looma play acoustic roots, bringing together folk, blues, cajun, old time and country traditions, as well as original songs; mixing driving energy with strong vocals and foot-tapping tunes.All musicians and singers welcome as is anybody who just wants to come and listen. Don't forget to bring your friends 🙂

This month, I have managed to persuade the legendary Mick Smith to come and do a feature spot for us. Mick has been performing locally and nationally since he was in his teens as well as running a successful local radio show on the BBC for 38 years. He is a great singer and performer as well as a great songwriter. He has recently released a single honouring his wife Diana called "Always Together" with the primary aim of raising money for the Alzheimer’s Research Charity. No doubt he will have a few copies with him. 😁

This month our featured artist is someone we haven't seen before, well not as our featured artist. Joe's background is from the `60`s folk blues scene, where he formed an art school jug band that moved to London to become "The Purple Gang". There they made quite an impact, with USA producer Joe Boyd acting as producer / manager and their single "Granny Takes A Trip" being banned by the BBC, in spite of great acclaim elsewhere in the music biz. Joe can turn his hand to many things and I'm sure his eclectic mix of material will make for some great entertainment.
All musicians and singers welcome as is anybody who just wants to come and listen. Don't forget to bring your friends 🙂

The fabulously talented Kenny Wilson is our featured act this month. Kenny hails from Leicester where he is often to be seen performing in venues like The Musician, sometimes solo but often in collaboration with a wide variety of artists. Kenny will be doing a solo spot for us. Kenny plays a eclectic mix of music and it's impossible to predict what he will choose to play. Rest assured though, he is a well seasoned performer and sure to delight.
Please note: I'm moving the start time to 8.00pm from this month. This is to allow extra time for performers 🙂

This month, I've managed to persuade my partners in crime, Ben and Darren to join me. Collectively known as Sence Valley we play an eclectic mix of original songs with the occasional cover and the odd instrumental thrown in for good measure. Featuring dobro, guitar, upright bass, three part harmony and the odd bit bit of banjo there's plenty to enjoy.
We also welcome performers to come and share their music with us. All styles welcome as long as it's acoustic :-)

This month we've got the long awaited and welcome return of singer, songwriter Phil Riley. Phil has long been a firm favourite on the local scene playing an eclectic mix of his own superbly crafted songs and covers, many of which he'll get you singing along to given half a chance. Why not come down and join in the fun on the 28th.

This month I've managed to persuade a couple of highly talented friends, Mark Mudge and Paul Morrell to play our feature spot. It's been a long time since we've seen these guys at Heather but they've been massively supportive in the past and have always provided us with top notch entertainment. They do a highly eclectic mix of covers and are excellent singers and musicians so why not come down and join in the fun on the 31st.

Woohoo! this month, I've been able to persuade my fine friends in The Leen Valley Band to perform the feature spot at Guy's Acoustic Session.
Featuring a rich, eclectic mix of Bluegrass, Old Tyme and H***y Tonk the band features some highly talented and time served musicians. Their good humoured, high sprited performance is always welcome here so why not come down and join in the fun on the 26th. :-)

This month at Guy's Acoustic Session we have a rare performance from the ultra-talented Joel Wildgoose. Joel will be Ably assisited by long-time friends Dave Abbott on Cajon, St.John “Stij” Mason on acoustic guitar and Ian Michie on bass & backing vocals. So why not come along and join us on the 29th.

This month our feature act is The Cellotapes. Do not miss this highly entertaining band. With their eclectic mix of Americana, Bluegrass, Country, Blues and Jazz, these multi-instrumentalists are right up my street. I hope some of you will come and support them on the 24th.

Singer songwriter Steve Cartwright will be gracing our stage as this month's feature act at Guy's Acoustic Session. To be fair, Steve would probably say he's never graced anything so this will be a first. Steve is a phenomenal song writer and a compelling performer and well worth coming to see so please come along and support him.

This month's features a rare, public manifestation by the one and only Phantom Horse. Back after our Christmas break, we're going to get off to a cracking start with our featured artist Ann Duggan. Ann will be ably supported on guitar by her long time musical partner Rob Hines. I'm delighted to announce that this month's featured artist at Guy's Acoustic Session is the fabulous Danny Willson. Danny is probably best known for his work with Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, he is also to be seen locally playing with his band The Cheeze. Danny is a great performer and a top notch guitarist, he is also well known for his mischievous sense of humour. He will be doing a rare acoustic set for us featuring some of his favourite songs along with some of his own compositions. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Danny to the session. 🙂

We've got a fabulous night lined up for you this month, Monday, 31st October with the return of our old friends The Old Grey Dogs. These guy's last graced our stage in 2016 so I'm eagerly looking forward to their long awaited return. With their finely tuned skills as musicians and their sense of fun, these stalwarts of the UK Bluegrass and Americana scene are not to be missed...
Do come down and support them, musicians and singers are welcome as well as anybody who just wants to come and listen. 😁
