Some boys can't even be without their toys on their wedding day! And who says that a Harley Davidson (created from sugar) and sugar flowers don't look good together! I always like to dress the figures that I make in the outfits that the bride and groom will be wearing on their Special Day, - just those extra bespoke details!

Congratulations to Natalie & Matthew who were married at Pentillie Castle and Estate recently. I cant take the credit for the design of this cake, but simply loved replicating the image which the bride supplied me with. Creating a perfect heart shape hole spanning 2 tiers wasn't without its challenges! Cake flavours included raspberry & white chocolate, coconut & lime and chocolate, iced in white and decorated with a Chantilly lace stencil design, artificial flowers and handmade sugar swans nesting on a bed of sugar blossoms and leaves.

Not only a fabulous new wedding venue, Tawstock Court opened its doors for it's first courses a few weeks ago, with Introduction to Chocolate Work taught by Carol Schnegg, and Introduction to Cake Decorating taught by my good self. It was an amazing couple of days, with such enthusiastic students and hosts, and a great honour to be the first tutor delivering adult education at this once private school.
Day 1 of the cake course, students learnt how to cover cakes with sugarpaste, crimp, emboss, add texture, use silicone moulds, multi use of working with stencils, pipe with royal icing and buttercream. Day 2 was more focused on creating handmade animal & figure models. During the 2 day course guidance was also given on the differences between sugarpaste, flower pastes and modelling pastes.

I look forward to being back at Tawstock Court in the run up to Christmas with a Christmas cake class for beginners and Sweets & Treats course

Here is what the Bride had to say, -
It was INCREDIBLE! We bought cake boxes for people to take some cake away, but it all vanished, it was so delicious. We had so many compliments from our guests on the evening, and in fact I was envious that I wasn't sitting next to it scoffing the lot. Thank you so much for all your hard work, it was truly amazing and we couldn't have asked for more.
