but then they - the Treaske String Quartet - treated us to this wonderful encore, an arrangement by #cellist #robertwheatley , and all was well with the universe
#llandeilofestivalofmusic2024
About last night………it was a spectacular end to what has been a spectacular week of the best of classical music.
Faure’s Requiem was, in moments, truly celestial. We truly did hear the voices of angels. Particularly once Jennifer Walker took to the stage.
What more can we say?
Well, we can say a HUGE THANK YOU!
A HUGE THANK YOU to the inimitable Julia, for inviting such wonderful musicians, for transporting us to other realms, for her tireless organisation and work.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to all the volunteers, and helpers, at St Teilo’s Church and Newton House and in Llandeilo.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to all of this year’s performers. Particularly organist Jane Watts who stepped in at the last minute to play the organ last night, under the direction of the legendary, and so very lovely, John S Davies.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to our sponsors. None of this would be possible without your help.
And last but definitely not least, a HUGE THANK YOU to ALL OF YOU who came along this year. We would not be here without your support.
We hope to see you all again next year for more sublime classical music (and a bit of jazz).

About last night………last week we predicted “a heart thumping performance of “Africa - A Singing Nation”. An event not to be missed!”
Well, we might as well order our crystal ball today, because it was that, and so much more; we saw the audience just about dancing in the aisles. (Surely a first for St. Teilo’s Church.) We saw children putting on the performance of their lives. And we saw a wonderful group of teachers overcome their fear and lead the children in a roof-raising rendition of Toto’s Africa.
A huge thank you to Africa Performing Arts, and the Llandeilo Primary School Choir, under the direction of Caius Lee.
Of course none of last night would have been possible without the Armonico Consort’s World Choir Creation Project and the Llandeilo Fawr Festival of Music’s Outreach Programme. Please do have a look online for more information about the wonderful work they do in the UK and now also overseas.
It was…. raucously stupendous!*
*disclaimer: The above has not been written by a parent of a child in last night’s performance. So it is not a biased review.
