Below are images of the prize winners in this year's Sunflower Challenge. These include the Mayor, Cllr Marcia Morgan with Marion Sadler, Matt Crockett and Luke Bailey who received £30 prizes.

Representatives from Ysgol Cefnllys and Ysgol Trefonnen are also pictured receiving cheques for £100 for each school to be used for their gardening groups.

Thanks to everyone who participated and encouraged pollinators throughout the town. Well done everyone.

Measuring Up -

We are now coming to the end of our Sunflower Challenge and it will soon be time for our judges to measure the largest of the Sunflowers.

Please can you submit your measurement at 29th August 2023 via email only please. If your Sunflower is one of the top 10 we will contact you to arrange to come along and visit you on 1st or 2nd September 2023 to carry out the official measuring. [email protected]

If you would like us to visit, please let me have your measurements and your permission to visit .

As a follow on to this challenge we will be launching a new photographic competition – “From Feed to Seed”. This will be launched on 5th November 2023 and is to encourage all competitors to dry their seeds and turn them into seeds for birds within your gardens. We will be asking for photographs of birds feeding within your garden, these will then be judged in early 2024 and prizes will be awarded for the best 3 photographs.

We also have another event – Pumpkin Pranks planned for 1st November 2023, so keep your eye out for further information.

The Town Council has launched a climate and nature emergency and, these challenges and competitions are designed to raise awareness and provide some fun for the residents of Llandrindod Wells.

All competitions are open to residents within the electoral boundary of Llandrindod Wells only.
