MONKEY BUSINESS 🦧

This was a flash linocut: conceived by night, designed, carved, and printed the day after. It's been made ad hoc for the little show I'm having at ,where you can now see it hanging on the wall while real people are hanging on other walls 🐒

I started bouldering just about 6 months ago, and I can't tell you how exciting it is. It feels like being a child in a big, colourful playground. And, just by coincidence, my passion for printmaking found a way to blend in.

INTREECACY [Ivory Version] 🌿
Linocut print, available on my website

The original linocut was carved for the , a wonderful print swap organized every year by , and printed on white Somerset paper. Later on, I modified the block adding extra light, and then reprinted it on Fabriano Rosaspina Ivory in this new edition.

You'll be able to see the original version on display at the Festival Of Print at the Art Pavilion in Mile End, London, 25th October - 3rd November.

To see the Ivory Version live, come find me any weekend at Backyard Market in Brick Lane, London.

I often find myself thinking over and over again about something, finding it very difficult to get rid of these looping thoughts racing in my head at the speed of light.
Drawing is one of the practices that helps me focus my attention on something else, or at least throw these thoughts outside of me. Once outside, I find it easier to examine them and possibly talk about them.

Linocut miniprint, Black & White or hand-finished with watercolours.

Part of the series Elementi (Elements), this print represents Earth and its incredible power to generate living organisms like plants, some of the most important resources on our planet.

The drawing is loosely based on a tree I met a few years ago while wandering through Epping Forest, an ancient wood on the outskirts of London. This particular tree had caught my attention as it looked like two different creatures twisted and blended together in one organism, leaving a large gap in the middle 🤯

Giant Mushroom Forest 🍄
Linocut miniprint, hand-finished with watercolours.

This is one of my oldest and most loved designs. Originally carved in A4 size in 2017 and printed in black and white, it represents a visual synthesis of the book "Journey to the Centre of the Earth," written by Jules Verne back in 1864.

I've always enjoyed getting lost in novels, but I often end up forgetting them after a while. Writing something about it or, even better, making a drawing or print of it, helps me impress the story in my mind and share it with the people around me.

Linocut prints, hand-painted with watercolours.
Having a market stall where to sell my prints has been crucial for realising that not everyone has the space or the financial availability to buy a large print, and that’s why I decided to recarve my favourite blocks into miniature versions.
Some of them are almost identical to the original ones, others have been modified to fit the new format.
All of them have been printed in my studio with the Gunning press and finished by hand.

Hello inky people! Last year I used this linocut to print as my entry for the Boxset, a wonderful exchange of original prints done for the love of printmaking.

While the first edition was in blue, this new one is in pink. Both the colours are bright and happy and have been chosen to celebrate the joy of the creative process.

Last year I used this linocut to print as my entry for the Boxset, a wonderful exchange of original prints done for the love of printmaking.

While the first edition was in blue, this new one is in pink. Both the colours are bright and happy and have been chosen to celebrate the joy of the creative process.

PHYSICAL GRAFFITI 🎸

As some of you may know, my life has always been largely influenced by music. I’m very lucky to have been raised in a family where sounds, images and words played a significant role. With time, I have learned to appreciate music in its diverse shapes and to experience the different sounds from around the world; this explorative and open approach mirrors many aspects of my life, including the very diverse styles of my printmaking output.

As I have recently realized, my work is naturally evolving into a visual diary that depicts a voyage through the inner and outer world, a place where reality and fantasy blend together into an organic flow of ink. Music is the fuel of my visual engine - for this reason I have chosen to dedicate a new series of linocuts to it.

This first print is the result of a few nights completely absorbed by the Led Zeppelin’s concert that took place in Earls Court in 1975. It was there that Jimmy Page and his guitar took me to an electrified dimension that I have translated into fast and rough slashes of pencil on paper, captured and emphasized at a later stage through my linoleum cuts.

I hope you enjoy the journey.

Since I moved to the UK almost 10 years ago, Autumn has become the favourite season for my eyes. Every year, the magic repeats and I keep finding myself playing like a child among the fallen leaves.

Autumn represents a moment of transition from the warm and playful moods of Summer towards the dark and introspective ones that Winter provides. It's a moment of reflection where nostalgic memories of the past season come up and get us ready for the coming one.

3rd colour variation of one of my favourite prints of 2023. I've reworked the block using coarse sandpaper to add extra texture to it.
The original drawing is the result of multiple inputs, especially an interest into Matisse's prints and a trip to the incredible city of Lisbon.
