Happy Birthday Finn!

Our fair headed warrior had a Wild One celebrating his first year around the ☀️ a couple of weeks ago (and I felt like all my birthdays had come at once organising his BASH on my own birthday! 😜)

Finn and I very nearly shared a birthday but he decided to join the party earth side the day after, I don’t blame him! 🥳

We did a cute little gathering in our local park and prayed for good weather, parking and a shaded spot near the loos! Luck was on our side. Phew.

I have some tips that don’t often get shared which I’ll do a separate post on.

For now, thank you to our friends and family for celebrating our cub with us and here’s to you Finnibobs ✨✨✨

It’s taken me a wee while to post about our latest clan member but here he is, our boy Finn.

Finley - meaning Fair Headed Warrior
Elwyn - meaning Friend of the Elves, your Grandfathers middle name, and a nod to your Welsh heritage
Alexander - your Fathers middle name and one passed down through your Scottish ancestors
Macnaughton

(There’s an anagram in there too if you feel inclined to spot it…?)

It’s been a rollercoaster ride these last 9 weeks being your mummy but I can honestly say it’s the ride of my life, and the highs massively out weigh the lows - 1000th percent.

Also thank goodness for family and friends (you know who you are). It really does take a village to raise a little and you’ve all looked after us so much. Love you 💕.

🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃

Why was the mummy so tense?

Because...
..they were all wound up! 👐🏻

Ok my jokes are nothing to write home about BUT I do have some pretty alternative spins on some classic Halloween party games to share with you...so Mummies if your worried about what to do for Halloween this year why not try some of the options below...

1. Split into teams, grab some 🧻 and choose a Mummy, Daddy adult or child to wrap. Have a competition to see which team can wrap their Mummy the quickest!

2. 🍎 Bobbing with water and apples OR 🧅 and custard!

3. A no handed 🍩 eating competition - (with Doughnuts strung up with string from one side of the room to the next) OR fill some plain Doughnuts with a gruesome surprise for some poor family member or friend to guess what’s inside - 👶🏼 food is a particular favourite of mine!

4. A strawberry lace competition OR a sour 🍬 competition - who can keep the most sourest sweet in their mouth for the longest amount of time ⏱.

5. Do You Dare - blindfold your party guest and have them guess what’s inside the bucket of doom with their hands! Spin them around a couple of times beforehand just for the fun of it!

✨ONE ✨

Birthday parties are always special as they mark another year around the sun but the first feels like one of the biggies doesn’t it? We’re always looking for ‘extra’ ways to celebrate and the Mexican tradition of the piñata goes down a treat.

At Yasmins Mini OG BASH we had a great time with this easy pull string piñata, a great alternative from the bigger cardboard containers which need to be hung from a certain height. Everyone takes a ribbon and pulls to retrieve the much anticipated treasure inside. Bish, bash, bosh! (Of course we’re also up for having a bash at the traditional cardboard containers too!)

🍼Announcement 🍼

The cat is well and truly out of the bag - we’re expecting a baby, a real one, not one my kids have a fashioned me to wear for a fancy dress camp supper! (although what a great job they did).

Scroll left and jump a decade to confirm, there really is no mistaking that I’m 37 weeks pregnant. On top of that baby is due from 13th August, my birthday. What a birthday that would be, and finally, to quote the sonographer, baby is “having a party in their”. So that’s confirmed it partying must be in their DNA. Phew!

Expect lots of play ideas coming to you…when I’ve got my head around how the heck you keep a small human alive! Wish us luck 🍀

Aren’t bubbles THE absolute best! Here’s our girl Amelie making an epic bubble tower at a crafty party last month!

But there is so much more to these floating orbs than meets the eye. Below are just a few ways that playing with bubbles is valuable to you and your children…

✨Hand-eye coordination✨
Following bubbles and then reaching out and actually popping one is a skill and it takes practice to get it right. Bubbles help children practice hand-eye coordination in a fun way!

📣Meet our amBASHadors! 📣

This is me…I’m the founding director of BASH. My name is Rhian and I’m on a mission to share the importance of play!

But what is an amBASHador I hear you ask?…well an amBASHador is what we at BASH HQ like to call our totally brilliant mega party entertainers who go out and smash parties weekend after weekend bringing you the very best in kids party entertainment.

BUT they’re SO much more than an entertainer, they’re a role model, a mentor, a big buddy, a partner in crime and a friend!

They’re someone who has got your kids back for the entirety of the time spent with them and who will encourage them to play all out at whatever they set they’re minds to.

At BASH we unabashedly revel in chaos, we play to children’s strengths one party at a time AND we believe that with a playful mindset your mighty smalls can have a bash at anything!

🪵 Den Building 🪵

Can you remember building dens when you were a child? Or finding a private space or area out of site from adults?

Building and playing inside dens and small enclosed areas is a common feature of play and, for children, there is something very powerful in it.

In such spaces, children can play pretend games and reflect on important experiences, worries and anxieties, all of which is extremely beneficial to a child’s emotional well-being.

Wilderness spaces are particularly thrilling for young’s minds and I’ve noticed when spending time with children as an outdoor instructor for Thomas’s Day Schools in London that providing the space, resources and time to experiment, does much to encourage and foster children’s interests in making dens and the outdoors has endless possibilities for constructing these sacred structures!

Very often, the construction and building of the den is as important for the children as the play that takes place and is part of the whole experience.

Outdoors, children seek out natural resources to add detail to their den. Adding seats, beds or shelf’s. As you can see this den has a little fire placed outside.

We have lots of outdoor areas in London but finding somewhere with a wooded area is great. Hampstead Heath and Wimbledon Common and greats spots!

🦄 Piñata Time 🦄

Kids go wild for a Piñata and we can see why! The stakes are high. Who will get chosen to step up and bash the cardboard box of dreams? Who will perform the ultimate bash and when the treasure cascades to the floor AND who will be brave enough to dive into the chaos and claim their horde of winnings in the first place! It sounds hectic. It sort of is but that’s what the kids live for. The jeopardy. The performance. The glory. Also, there’s always two Am-bash-adors on side to make sure safety comes first!

😊 Monday Motivation 😊

Happy, smiling faces at your BASH are what motivates us to get out there and make more!

Fun fact: smiling is a powerful thing with lots of positive mood boosting affects - smiling releases these cool hormones called endorphins and cortisol which reduces stress and anxiety, kicks your immune system into action AND the best thing is a smile can be contagious.

If you smile at someone and they smile back not only do you feel the joy from their smile BUT that smile could go on for miles through each person it gets passed onto.

We think that’s pretty cool and so we’ll be passing on smiles for miles to spread happiness and joy into the week.

🎃 Pumpkin Cookies 🎃

For those of you that aren’t yet done with the Halloween season, here’s some choccy chip pumpkin cookies for you to have a go at with the kids!

🕷10 Halloween Activity Ideas!🕷

1. Make Frankenstein snot slime using:

-4oz Elmer's Glue (blue, clear or white)
-2 teaspoons Borax
-Glitter (optional)
-Food colouring

⚡️Mix 4oz glue with 1 cup water

⚡️Add a few drops of green food colouring

⚡️In a separate bowl, mix 2 teaspoons Borax and ⅓ cup warm water. Stir until dissolved.

⚡️Mix both bowls together and you have slime!!!

2. Decorate pumpkins 🎃 using (thanks for that one), paint or even decoupage!

3. Collect leaves 🍁 of different shapes and sizes and turn them into ghouls by painting them white and giving them goggly 👀.

4. Make a 2D or 3D lolly stick haunted house equipped with lolly stick puppets to put on a frightfully good show! 🎭.

5. Turn tissue paper boxes into monster boxes. Check out for decorative ideas - I love a pom-pom myself 🕸.

6. Design monster rocks, give them google eyes and leave them in a sneaky spot for some other trick or treater to find 🔍.

7. Collect toilet roll holders to create your favourite Halloween characters - hell collect all the recycling and go BIG with your imagination and BIG with your creations 🧛🏻.

8. Cut an 🍎 in half and use it as a stamp to create pumpkin art.

9. Put flour in an orange 🎈 and make a pumpkin stress ball. Use a black marker pen to draw in the triangle eyes and a green pipe cleaner to tie around the top for the stalk.

10. Design a 👻 themed work of art on card using cotton wool balls and frame it with painted pasta tubes 👩🏾‍🎨.
