Venue of the Month - June 2024

This June, we're featuring the stunning Cherwell Boathouse in Oxford as our Venue of the Month. Situated about a mile from the city centre, this delightful venue holds a rich punting history.

Described as a "truly timeless, slightly eccentric, quintessentially Oxford pleasure," punting has been a beloved sport since the 1800's.

Constructed in 1909 as a punt hire business, the Cherwell Boathouse now operates as a charming restaurant and tea house. Located on the River Cherwell, it not only provides guests with the opportunity to try punting, but also boasts a variety of private areas for hire. This includes a large riverside marquee that can comfortably accommodate up to 120 guests.

Jenny from TCE shares her experience: "We recently hosted a group from overseas at the Cherwell Boathouse in Oxford. We arranged for them to try punting and have lunch at the venue. They thoroughly enjoyed their river excursion and were immensely impressed by the excellent service and food at the restaurant."

VENUE OF THE MONTH - MAY

The beautiful and elegant Orangery at Kensington Palace, a venue renowned for its private gardens and historic allure, is set to reopen its doors following comprehensive restoration, scheduled for completion in April 2024.

This distinguished venue, with a rich history dating back to 1704, is available for event hire throughout the year. The Orangery, distinguished by the intricate carvings of Grinling Gibbons, served multiple purposes in its time, including a summer supper house and a hub for entertainment. Limited events are hosted annually, presenting a unique opportunity for prospective clients.

Capacities
Drinks receptions: Up to 300 guests
Dining: Up to 200 guests
Dinner and dance: Up to 120 guests

TCE are able to arrange a fantastic start to your evening with drinks within the palace State Apartments followed by a private tour of the exhibitions and then dinner within the Orangery.

Inside is a beautiful bar and an opportunity for a bespoke whisky experience - whisky school if you will!

The hotel is a historic building- formally home of law and order and the building where Jack the Rippers crimes were investigated and where Charles Dickens joined officers on their nightly rounds.

Well have we got a venue of the month for you this month!!

Jenny, Laura and Ivanna were lucky enough to spend the evening in one of our favourite London venues on Thursday!!

We went to the extra special Abbey Road Studios for their “Stories from the Studios” event.

Abbey Road is where The Beatles recorded 190 of their 210 songs (!!) and is the studio with the crossing outside from the famous cover of their Abbey Road album!

Other artists and music recorded here include Ed Sheeran, Pink Floyd (The Dark Side of the Moon), Kylie Minogue, and music from Harry Potter and Indiana Jones to name just a few. It’s also the studio where Amy Winehouse made her last ever recording.

This venue has magic running through it, you can’t describe the feeling you get when you walk through the door, but you know you are somewhere very special ✨

Bill Prosser is seeing clients in Edinburgh today and tomorrow.

He has dropped into Old Course at St Andrews (he didn’t have time for a round of golf sadly) BUT he did bring the sunshine!

Did you know that St Andrews along with its Royal connections, is the birthplace of golf, and The Royal and Ancient Club was created in 1754 and has been the headquarters of golf ever since!

Do you know the history of the Ravens? Charles II was warned that if the ravens ever left the tower, the Crown and the Tower would fall!!

Our venue of the month for January is a really good one!!

Today we bring you historic and wonderful Havengore.

This vessel has stayed under the radar (or sonar perhaps)... but in many ways, it really shouldn't have!

It is covered with history and is a beautifully made vessel. 26 ft long and crafted with British oak and teak.

Events at Havengore

This historic vessel can carry up to 40 pax for a moving event... clay pigeon shooting on the river perhaps? Followed by champagne on the way back to the dock, or a dinner whilst taking in the historic and beautiful sights along the Thames, which is a very special experience in itself.

Alternatively, the venue can hold up to 60 passengers for moored events.

She is moored in St Katherine's Dock just next to Tower Bridge.

History of Havengore

Its most famous journey was on 30 January 1965, as Havengore carried Sir Winston Churchill on his final journey by water along the River Thames for his state funeral.
She has also had several senior Royals on board as she was selected to carry members of the Royal family as part of the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

Back in 2007, two Scottish friends decided to take on the British beer market and change things up, fast forward to 2020 and they became the worlds first Carbon Negative Brewery....OK we're listening....

Jump to August 2022 and they open BrewDog Waterloo, a multi concept venue with, private spaces, open spaces, big spaces, small spaces, bowling, ping pong, working space, a microbrewery, and indoor tube slide, beer school and a cocktail hideaway!
