Here we go.... 15 days in CDMX and Oaxaca eating until we burst.... there was some INCREDIBLE food and honestly, I could post another 10 honourable 'munchions'
So, in no particular order:-
1. Mackerel with celery vinegar at .rest - the last meal of our holiday was simply wonderful. Every dish a winner, but I think we both agreed this edged it as a favourite
2. Udon noodles at .mx - gorgeous little wine bar run by a super friendly team.... these noodles came across like a Mex / Japanese mac and cheese with chunks of sweet prawns and a hit of chilli oil. Lush
3. Huevos Rancheros at - breakfast on our last morning in Oaxaca was at this beautiful little spot in Jalatlico. Don't miss this one if you visit
4. Agave y Pataxtle - a devine dessert at .mx - all about that mezcal and citrus ice cream 😋
5. Symphony of Mamey at - loved our lunch in this incredible space. A 'must visit' spot in Oaxaca
6. Aroz a la Tumbada at .bacanoraoax - we stumbled on this place whilst strolling round Jalatlico and ended up going twice. Stunning setting, even better food. This was one of the best rice dishes of my life.... and that's saying a lot.
7. Taco de Mahi Mahi at - no trip to Oaxaca is complete without eating the tasting menu at this gastro institution. This was our favourite dish
8. Suckling pig and crackling tacos at - one of the stars of the Oaxaca Street food scene. A touch off the beaten track, but worth the walk
9. Pozole at Chefinita, Oaxaca. Pork (or beef) stew of dreams. Exceptional. Need to google this recipe
10. Ants Eggs tacos at - 10pm, in the courtyard of our hotel, our first meal in CDMX did not disappoint!
