After a busy Summer Season, including the Military Musical Spectacular, and Trooping the Colour, we would like to take the opportunity to introduce the Band's new Band Sergeant Major, Warrant Officer Class 2 Neil Brocklehurst.
WO2 Brocklehurst began his military career in 1997, being assigned to The Band of the Scots Guards as a musician. During his early time with the band, he embarked on several tours around the world, most notably a tour to New York, with the Band of the Coldstream Guards following the 9/11 attacks.
In 2003, he left the Army to pursue a career as a professional drummer in the West End, playing in legendary shows including Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, Chicago, We Will Rock You, Mary Poppins, and Greece.
He reenlisted with the Band of the Scots Guards in 2008, and has remained with the band ever since, rising through the ranks to his current position of Band Sergeant Major, and Senior Timebeater in the Household Division.
WO2 Brocklehurst comes from something of a Band of the Scots Guards dynasty; his father Ernie Brocklehurst served as a Euphonium player in the band from 1966 until 1992, ending his career as Assistant Band Sergeant Major.
This means that since 1966, there has only been 10 years without a Brocklehurst serving in the band!
