We recently hosted a summer party on the Colonnades followed by bowl food in the Painted Hall 🌞 We look to see how versatile the spaces can be used for grand get togethers.

We still can't quite get over our recent event, Whispering Wonders ✨ Here's the debrief of what went down behind the red curtains...

🍿Guests were invited to get a taste of what a event can look like at ORNC. Each person was able to 'ring for service' from the box office to collect their personalised ticket and enjoy English sparkling wine on the Colonnades.
🎻Once dinner was called, guests walked through the red curtains to be seated at mirrored tables, reflecting the awesome artwork on the ceiling. Entertainment was in the centre of the Hall, on a circular stage - a first for the Painted Hall!
🍽The menu was a divine experience for the tastebuds:
Black tiger prawns, Bloody Mary, chive, squid ink, followed by rack and shoulder of Cornish lamb, asparagus, green herbs, artichoke, capers, and baron bigod with the ultimate showstopper summer mess of strawberries, gooseberries, elderflower, lemon verbena, cardamom.

Our Executive Chef Tracey has seen more than a few events during her time on the pass at here. We asked Tracey for a few tips when thinking about your menu for you next event. ⬇️
🤔'Consider how many guests you have attending and what style of food will best suit it.' If your event is following a conference in the City, jumping on the boat to the pier to finish your day is a great idea. Some planners will opt for pre-plated starters which means guests won't have to wait for everyone to be seated to be served their starters.
⏱'Your number of courses will impact the length of service.' Sure, we love the idea of a six course menu, but realistically it can mean that your evening will be lengthy and it might risk guests spending time enjoying entertainment.
🍽'Choose a menu that will work for your guests.' Making sure the menu suits your event is key to you event success. If you're holding a team day away a menu that serves your guests from breakfast until dinner is perfect on the other hand if you're hosting a big gala you may want to consider adding a choice of canapes with a drinks reception before heading into a three course menu.

Dining underneath Painted Ceiling is a must for those wanting to impress guests. For this event, guests were seated at a mirrored table which meant guests were able to see the artistry along the table.

When our team hosted Chromatica last summer, the banquet table and décor were purposefully left without colour, meaning all colour and focus was on the magnificent Painted Ceiling. Our friends from were able to make this concept truly come to life ✨

About last night. For one night only we hosted a special experience to dine beneath the Museum of the Moon. With LED Ballerinas & Butterflies as our surprise entertain, guests were captivated throughout.

Big thank you to our suppliers that helped take this experience beyond amazing.

With lots more planned beneath this epic masterpiece, including wellness events, it’s going to be a fantastic few weeks with this installation.

The key to any event is the yummy detail. For us, it is making sure the food stands up in venue and is still that talking point. When your venue is as jaw dropping as ours, luckily our chefs are up to the task.

It’s with deep sadness that we acknowledge the death of Her Majesty the Queen. The Trustees, Chief Executive, staff and volunteers of the Old Royal Naval College send our heartfelt condolences to all the Royal Family who are in our thoughts at this time.

Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II visited the Royal Borough of Greenwich and The Old Royal Naval College several times throughout her life and as a mark of respect the Chapel and Painted Hall will be open for quiet contemplation and prayer for the rest of today and tomorrow. A Book of Condolence has been opened and is available for any who wish to record their thoughts, memories, and prayers at this time.
