📣 Calling for Donations: Chocolate & Bottle Tombola! 📣

Gala Day isn’t until the 7th of June, but we’re kicking off our collection now to build an epic prize pool for our tombola – and we need your help! We’re collecting any chocolates and bottles you can spare. Whether it’s leftover Christmas treats, a spare bar, bubble bath, soft drink, or even a cheeky tipple, if it’s chocolate or it comes in a bottle, we’d love to have it.

Please drop your items off at the Community Centre, or get in touch with us below to arrange a collection.

These will be enough to feed your table and can be eaten at the event. To win a dessert, you will place bids and the highest bid will win the dessert! Please be prepared for the children on your table to be very excited and want to bid for their pudding! Some examples of desserts available will be sticky toffee pudding and lemon meringue pie! 🤤

If you miss out on a dessert in the auction there will also be a stall with shortbread and tablet for sale for your sweet treat after dinner.

We will also have a chocolate and Teddy tombola as well as soft drinks bar available and we can take cash and cards for all payments.

Thank you to Longniddry Pharmacy for continuing to support the Gala! They have this huge bucket that can drop your loose change in and it’s already looking pretty full! It will be collected for counting in May so still plenty time to donate next time you are in! Thanks to our mini volunteer Joshua - Chief Bucket Officer - for keeping an eye on it and updating the poster each year!

🛑 CEILIDH CANCELLED 🛑
Further to below we are very disappointed to confirm that tomorrow’s ceilidh is cancelled. We were delighted with the uptake in ticket sales and the committee had been busy organising to make sure it was a great night. However for the safety of everyone, it’s the right decision to cancel. Moving venue is not a viable option given it would mean people needing to travel. We are very sorry but hopefully people understand safety comes first. More info to follow shortly on potential revised date or refund options.
Thankyou for your understanding.

Only a couple days away from our first Burns Night Ceilidh!

A few questions from the playground this morning so thought we would put the answers here!

❓Do we have allocated seats? - we have assigned everyone tables to make sure we maximise the space available and when you arrive you will be told what table you are on. Your whole group will be together and we have done our best to combine groups that know each other!

❓ Do we wear kilts? - kilts and any tartan is encouraged but don’t worry if you don’t have anything!

❓what time does it start? - we will be starting prompt at 5.10pm so please make sure you are here in plenty time to be seated for then! We will do our best to get people in as quickly as possible at 5pm and there will be a cloakroom in operation so coats off in the queue for a quick entry!

If there are any more questions, let us know! Please see our previous post and email too for lots more information on what to expect

A big thank you to our decor factory Elaine Clarke for helping us make sustainable decorations for our events! She made most of the garlands for our curry night from scraps of fabric collected locally and now she’s on to tartan bunting and table runners for the Ceilidh!
She also moonlights as the P1/2 Ceilidh teacher and will be our ceilidh caller as well!

2 weeks today we will be living our best lives at our Burns Night Ceilidh and we can’t wait to welcome you all! We are in for a real treat with a traditional ceilidh - not just the dancing but poetry and song from some of our wee bairns too!

Tickets are already selling fast thanks to the primary kids being super enthusiastic about learning the dances in school. If you are planning to come, please do get your tickets quickly as we don’t want you to miss out and we also need to provide the caterer with numbers next week

We also want to make sure we are inclusive as possible so if there are any adjustments that would make it easier for you to attend, please message us and we will do our best. For example we know there will be a lot of lively music so we will have our 6 sets of headphones available for borrowing if there’s anyone sensitive to loud noises

No sooner has the Christmas tree all been packed away and the kids gone back to school (🙌🙌) that we are in full planning mode for our first gala event of 2025!!

You will be treated to music from local musicians to dance along to as well as family friendly calling on all dances.

There will also be a Burns Supper buffet with traditional Haggis (and veggie), Neeps and Tatties as well as a Mince and Tatties option. All Longniddry Primary children will be learning the ceilidh dances as part of their PE classes in the next few weeks so don’t worry about them not knowing what to do!

Ceilidh and Burns Supper all for £10 per person. Under 3s are free however you must still purchase a ticket so we can keep track of numbers. This price covers the price of our catering cost only so Longniddry Gala committee have decided to subsidise all additional event costs to keep the price for families to attend as low as possible.

📣 DATE CORRECTION 📣 The Family Burns Night will be on FRIDAY 24 JANUARY, not Saturday 25 January per advert below. Apologies for the confusion. Tickets will be released soon so keep a look out 👀!

If your house is anything like mine, getting to 2025 intact will be an achievement.......however if you are in better shape and are looking to plan ahead for our first event of 2025 then look no further....

Introducing our Family Burns Night 2025 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A brand new event in our Gala calendar will be fun for all the family as a night of Burns, music and dancing and food will come to the Longniddry Community Centre on the 25th Jan between 5pm and 7.30pm.

Don't worry we aren't asking for you to buy tickets yet, that will come in the new year, but just make note of the date for now and it's not too late to ask Santa for the complete works of Burns.
