Such a top top night at Sunday's Rhyme Time.

here's what you can expect....

Intricate fingerpicking patterns and sweeping open tunings coupled with a poetic turn of phrase, and a humbling incredulity, make for a passionate performer who lives every second on stage. Writing wistful songs about love, travel, idleness, perseveration, failure, and hope, Mr. Novembre blends a folky bedrock with a more intricate and lush indie sound palette, teetering between folk and rock.Inspired by many countries both lived in and travelled through, Mr. Novembre writes in English, French, and Spanish, about characters encountered, friends made, and cities discovered all over the globe. And the lovely Mancunian northerners have beguiled him so far as he builds up a fanbase playing open mics throughout the city and its suburbs.

Another Chapter is out now on all streaming platforms, and picking up airplay, as Mr. Novembre prepares to return to the live scene in April 2023 in Manchester, and play festivals all over the U.K. through the summer.

🎶🎤We're ending the weekend in style as Rhyme Time spins around again! 🙌

A monthly night of poetry and music event. Bringing together the finest poets and musicians hosted by the poet and musician, Tony Sheppard 👏🎤.

This month's Rhyme Time features poetry from John Darwin, Genevieve Walsh and Tony Curry. 🙌

Music from The Dove and the Dragon, Charlie Pink and Tony Curry. 🎶

As always our Sunday events are free however we will be passing around the hat for donations so please bring cash to support the acts. 💛

We will also be serving up some delicious grub from the Carlton Kitchen from 6-9pm. The event will start at 8pm and once again we are helping you out with free entry. So no excuses, head down and enjoy your evening at the Carlton Club. 🍻💛

So chuffed that the wonderful poet John Darwin will be appearing at Rhyme Time next Sunday 8pm 11th June

John Darwin is an adopted Mancunian. He is the host of the monthly spoken word event Crooked Poets in Prestwich. He won the Best Spoken Word Show award at the Greater Manchester Fringe in 2021 with his show ‘Happy Hour’.

His second solo collection ‘Ultrasilence’ was published by Flapjack Press in October 2022.

His new show ‘Killing the Darkness Ox’ will appear shortly.

Geneviève L. Walsh is a Lancashire-based writer who has been captivating and/or unsettling audiences since 2012. They founded Halifax’s Spoken Weird, a poetry night which branched out into three nights and a festival, running for an impressive nine years before Walsh handed in their white rose badge and left Yorkshire in 2021. They are currently the resident creative writing practitioner for Bolton’s Stand Up Sisters.

Walsh’s collections with Flapjack Press include The Dance of A Thousand Losers [2017] and Vitriol Works [2021]. Their poems are about identity, alienation, politics, mental health and the daft beauty of music.
