Excellent work keeping busy and musical Austin Miller. Austin is in 2nd year at the RNCM and like many guitarists is multi-skilled and is a multi-faceted musician.

Widely recognised as the voice of New Music in Scotland, Jim Gellatly has over 20 years experience of unearthing talent neatly tucked under his radio belt. It’s by no means just music from North of the Border, but Jim makes no apologies for any Scottish bias!

Hi Everyone.

The arts and creative industries are made up, overwhelmingly, of self-employed free-lancers. Our only guarantee of employment is the ability to produce things that other people might enjoy. We love what we do and all accept that insecurity is just part of the trade off we make for having such fulfilling jobs.

However none of us can escape the realities faced by the rest of the world and, when that happens, we have no safety net - no unemployment benefit, no sick-pay and no redundancy pay.

As of last week, every single free-lance musician I know is unemployed. Some of us having savings to keep us going for a bit but many do not.

If you agree that self-employed workers - taxi drivers, delivery drivers, musicians and the rest deserve the same treatment as salaried workers please will you take time to sign this petition as soon as you are able to.

The government meet later today to discuss this matter so your support would be hugely appreciated.

The Concert will include a variety of performances from the students and the world premier of Bill Connors 'Northern Quarter". We all look forward to seeing some of you there.

Here is the wonderful British composer Bill Connor working with the RNCM Guitar students on his work written specifically for the ensemble. Keep your eyes out for the 'world premiere'!

"Bill Connor has made his living as a composer since the 1970's working across many genres and media from rock and jazz to the symphony orchestra. He has written music for over 300 film and television projects and spent 6 years as composer-in-residence for Granada Television in Manchester UK"
