I have a cold, s**t nails and. No party in me ( might managed a fizz tho) and so Oct/nov/dec I can’t be bothered with! But I can say last night we watched a beautiful film called The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and right as I was thinking how life is purely about luck in terms of where you are born I looked at my to see this. My only mantra for 2025 now. Happy new year guys

July-Sept . Lovely stuff and some sunshine still hung about , just. Bespoke stuff including a gorgeous mum and daughter and all her flower girls and a dream project of a massive lace floral halo, the summer of the pearl veil- I think I’ve done 6 this year, horseshoes kept coming and then I get the summer holiday juggle/time off. One of the reasons I stay self employed and we sacrifice money is so I can be with the kids (🤔) Another massive crafty hen party of 17 right after the summer followed by a nice bout of Covid just as the kids went back to school obvs 🙄 and then we know autumn is coming as I start to get solely gold leafy horseshoe orders coming through and the berets begin. Im still lurgied today but going to see a David Hockney exhibition that cost us a small fortune if it kills me, anyone got exciting plans?! Hope I manage a gin and tonic later 🥂. Thankyou thanks for booking me for Amy and her hens And how could I forget .photography all of whom I’ve worked with this summer ( sometimes twice) and really loved. My littlest adored going to his first shoot at a fancy hotel !

April-June recap. It’s never plain sailing in the busier months when the gifts kick off ( but I am not complaining) and it’s easy to think you will space work out or say no to things that are a bit too much… but that never happens. And then I get a nice bout of noravuris that was a good 2 weeks recovery. But we made it. A lovely hen party in April with sunny skies a plenty, getting to sit outside my studio whilst cleaning horseshoes for my gifts, finishing off bespoke projects from the Jan consultations and a beautiful rush bespoke order from such a kind and empathetic hearted bride meant my little fingers were sore sewing. You gotta squeeze it in when it’s wanted is what I’ve learnt over the last 14 years of doing this and summer is my vibe so I push myself. I promised myself no shoots but then this fabulous and out of my comfort zone one at popped up and it was too good to resist. I love them so it’s hard to say no. Big up to all featured. .92

RECAPPING Jan-March 2024 . As I sit here with the Xmas lurgy, like pretty much every other person I know, I thought it would be nice to recap the year in chunks. As wedding vendors we definitely have a point where Jan and Feb can feel scary. 2024 was one of those years where everyone was being told to be cautious and there was a lot of doom and gloom. But when it started in March, boy it started! Highlights are wedding fairs at and with , lovely pics from the ever wonderful 2 gorgeous consultations for organised ( we like that!) summer brides took place in Jan and Sophie and Amy turned out to be 2 of my favourite projects of the year, upcycling their family heirlooms . My rose quartz heart earrings were a big hit after my valentines competition with you all. Probably my proudest but also saddest moment was the overwhelming amount of you who bought my healing crystals for p*lest*ne earrings in March allowing us to raise nearly £300 for medical aid. 💔. As March then went a bit mad I’d stupidly planned a hen party rebrand shoot but don’t regret a second as a) it was a scream and b) the images from are amazing as always and now I’m all set for this year. Cosy sewing of gifts in my studio and a beautiful shoot with featuring my pieces absolutely topped it off and thankyou to and for being 2 lovely little last minute bespoke customers…. Wishing you all a wonderful time whatever you are doing and wishing for peace for 2025. I want to say a huge thankyou for everything this year… a quiet and wobbly start but it’s held up to 2023 and for that I am very grateful for you all continuing to buy from me. Today was a Xmas swim, Biscuit making ( bit burnt!) , wrapping done, been to a party and drank plenty of fizz. Stuff is still out for FC even though they are too big now.. who cares! I’ll do ot as long as they let me. Im knackered 😂 but happy 🎄✨🥂 ❤️

Is it really worth it? I hear you say about entering one of my competitions. .girl and me all used to work together years ago at the marvellous place that was head office in the buying dept Isn’t it amazing to see how 4 women have all gone on to create their own small independent brands and businesses from this brilliant background and training. This post was prompted by me feeling really really pi**ed off seeing Susie’s gorgeous handmade children’s hair bows are being ripped off by the horrors at Sh*in. They are using her imagery ( this belongs to her) on their site. God knows what crap you receive when you order but it will@not be handcrafted bows in quality fabric for sure. When we worked at coast we learnt about great design and ethical and quality factory production. It was a joy to visit our office in Hong Kong and work with them. But this is why their products cost more…. And are worth it. I still have pieces I bought there 20 years ago. I completely understand we are in cost of living crisis, it directly effects small business when people have less money but Sh*in isn’t the answer. Go and watch the documentary on if you are unsure ( I’ll pop the link in my stories ) I bet you never buy from them again if you do. Time passing .. and looking back. I was prompted to do this yesterday as I saw this lady was 11 years. Vicky was the very first bride to bring me her mum’s veil and headpiece and ask me what I could do with it. Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe was still in its infancy, mostly using vintage jewels and fabrics, something which has changed and then recircled back over the years. I mended her headpiece and added lace to freshen it up, chopped up the veil to make a cute short double layer birdcage and even saved the lace from the veil for a garter. Vicky changed my business forever by asking this question. The reworking fits so well with my quest for less waste and sustainability and using a loved ones piece fits perfectly with my love of wedding traditions and touches of thoughtfulness I now take preloved family pieces all the time and rework them into new styles for brides. In 2024 it has made up the majority of my bespoke work. It’s been a lovely process looking back and finding old pictures. I’ll be sharing some over on my stories this morning, maybe some inspo for you own reworked piece? Also thankyou I owe you one! Also time passes so@bloody quick folks! Do ALL THE THINGS! A Saturday thought and it’s a deep one….yesterday was my youngest’s 11th birthday and we were in Manchester passing Manchester Art Gallery and popped into see their excellent fashion exhibition. In 20 mins of sketching I lost myself, like my son does every single day. When did this stop happening for me? I realised in chatting to a lovely lady there that it was exactly at the point I started to study what I loved doing. I don’t think I’ve ever really drawn for pleasure since I started my design degree back in 1996 🤯 lesson learnt is to keep some things sacred for fun. As soon as we make things our occupation, monestise them and make them about productivity, they lose their joy a bit, even if we love what we do. I was never the best illustrator on my fashion design course by any means but yesterday I discovered I still love it and so you will now find me mostly sketching day and night 😂 thanks for making me do this. I think I just need to be more 11 year old.
