Great tour this week with the 4th Mansfield Woodhouse Scouts. The place takes on a whole new feeling at night. We got an eager volunteer to pedal our generator to get the lights to come on as there is no coal for a fossil fuel generator available these days!

It was a pleasure showing Paul Peacock and Rowan Cozens around the headstocks museum today. They are the leader and deputy leaders of Newark and Sherwood District Council so it is good to know we are recognised as one of the local tourism attractions. One point we discussed was the lack of promotion of tourism in the district. The tourism website for N&S only lists Southwell, Newark and Sherwood Forest and Visit Notts only lists attractions of paid up members, not a true representation of Notts at all.. Hopefully action will be taken now to help promote all tourism business's, not just an elite group.

We decided that the military section of our museum at Clipstone headstocks needed a tank, so here it comes. Huge thanks to Hutchinson Engineering Services Ltd Ash and Ben did an amazing job.

NEXT UP.... Saturday 30th November we host a large Christmas market at Clipstone Headstocks, mostly indoors and some outside in the courtyard. We have over 50 stalls coming and SANTA! We are charging just £1 for children to visit Santa in his log cabin and he will be giving them all a small selection box or toy.
Don't miss this, there will be lots of interesting stuff on sale, many gift ideas and great food and drink too. Mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas music will create a wonderful festive atmosphere.
FREE PARKING. Only £2 entry to support work on the buildings.

CLIPSTONE HEADSTOCKS FIREWORKS PARTY. Tickets have all sold out now but we accept CASH payment on the gate until we are full.
Please arrive before 4 p.m to guarantee entry. Car park may be full.
WHATS ON from 2 p.m -9 p.m
Craft market indoors, loads of interesting stalls.
Funfair for adults and funfair for kids plus stalls.
Music on stage and a live performance during the display.
Bar open serving cold lager/cider/wine and prossecco all for £3.
Fantastic range of food including noodles, pizza, chilli, hot dogs, burgers and mushy peas. Coffee wagon, doughnuts, hot choc, sweets, churros and a gin bar. You can even visit the tattoo van.
Bonfire will be lit at 4:30 fireworks at 6:00.
PLEASE WEAR SENSIBLE SHOES AND BRING A TORCH.
Please arrive before 4 p.m to guarantee entry. Car park may be full.

126 new homes development next to the headstocks was approved by committee last night.
We would like to thank Paul Peacock Council leader for taking the time to push for improvements to the proposal.
Substantial contributions from the developer will include £150,000 for transport, £24,000 for bus stops, education £525,000, special education £90,322, library stock £4366 and NHS £123,732.
There will also be 3.5 Ha of land allocated off site as mitigation measures to increase biodiversity. I understand this will form part of a legally binding agreement.
Newark and Sherwood council officers considered that the benefits in terms of ecology improvements and providing much needed homes and some affordable homes outweigh the negatives.
The developer had addressed the majority of concerns previously raised such as highways and parking.
To be clear this development is not connected in any way to the headstocks, we will continue to offer shows and events for the enjoyment of the community and use the money raised to continue our fight to protect the buildings.

Advance tickets now available to guarantee admission. Those wanting to come to the indoor craft market and return for the fireworks will be given wrist bands for re entry.

ITS HAPPENING BONFIRE PARTY AT Clipstone Headstocks 3rd November. 2-9 p.m
Just £5 admission, under 5's free, cash on the gate please as it will be busy and we need to get everyone in quickly.

The fireworks will on at 6p.m so the little ones will be able to see them. We will also have fun fair rides and stalls, a good selection of food vendors and our bar selling wine, lager, beer and cider and shots all at just £3.

Our bonfire will keep you warm and the music will have you dancing, plus we have a special treat, a musical first, it will amaze!

FROM PAST EVENTS WE ALWAYS HAVE QUEUES AT 6p.m please arrive in plenty of time, it will be busy. Ticket will be available soon.

Excited for next month as we turn the Power House at the Clipstone headstocks into the The Madhouse night club! 10 hours and 12 DJs bringing you the finest hard house/ bounce music there is.
High quality sound system and amazing laser light show. Bar selling cold ones for £3 and a delicious food outlet will be providing you with more energy to jump! This is an experience not to be missed.

⛏️ The tours provided by volunteers give children & their families an educational insight into the history of the building and what life was like as an active colliery for workers 'back in the day'👷

⛏️ You'll don a hard hat as you descend into the tunnel to get a feel of being a worker in that environment. Amazing for children to see and experience the enormity of the Powerhouse & understand what it was used for.

More additions for our military display area just in time for the "Kidstock" event next Saturday as we have been asked by the organisers to offer guided tours as part of the activities.
Below is our 1937 Austin Army officer car and behind it is our Coventry Climax fire pump and trailer.
