Canapé party

We had the pleasure of designing canapés for a beautiful 50th Birthday Party at the Lovely Hurley House Hotel last weekend.

We made a selection of meat, fish, vegan & vegetarian canapés.

Here we have

🌱 Parmesan crostini, black olive tapenade, whipped feta & cherry tomatoe
🌱 Lettuce cups, falafel, taziki & pomegranate
🌱 Smoked vegan goats cheese rolled in walnut crumb & watermelon
🌱 Panko fried mac & cheese balls with smoked ketchup
🌱 Tuna nicoise skewers, tuna steak, black olive, green bean, quails egg, tomato & drizzled in pesto
🌱 Chilled raw oysters, mignonette & Tabasco
🌱 Chilli lobster on toasted brioche
🌱 mini Yorkshire puddings, sirloin beef & horseradish cream
🌱 Sweet-chilli bang bang chicken

Sunshine shakshuka ☀️

Start your weekend right with a plate of this delish pick me up. Baked eggs in a spicy tom sauce. Make it as hot as you like!

Serves 4
2 white onion
3 garlic
3 bell peppers
1tsp oregano
1tsp mixed herbs
2-3 tsp smoked paprika
1 red chilli & chilli flakes
1 tin cannelloni beans
2 tinned tomatoes
250g baby spinach
4 eggs
Toasted sourdough
Roughly chopped parsley
Tabasco

🥚 fry the onion garlic chilli and peppers in hot oil before adding the herbs and spices.

🥚cook off for 8mins before tipping in the tinned toms, season and leave to simmer uncovered.

🥚 after 10mins add the cannelloni beans and simmer for 2mins more with lid on.

🥚 stir in the spinach till coated. Make four little holes in the mixture and gently crack an egg into each one. Cover with a lid and cook for 6-8min, or until the eggs are set just how you like them.

🥚plate up your toasted sourdough and top each plate with a spoonful of the spicy tomato mixture, including an egg, season & sprinkle over parsley - enjoy

The event is for millennials to connect with others in a safe supportive environment. There will be panels discussing mental health stigma, gender, identity and mental health through a cultural lens. There will also be breathworks and a free goodie bag for attendees. Live DJ/social at the event.

Sooo, I did something pretty cool earlier this year for & .

I was chosen as one of their chefs to represent CMG on this shoot, where I got to cook up a storm and create my popular tacos 🌮

What a great experience and opportunity it was to work with such a well know brand and show off my skills and flare in the kitchen 👩‍🍳 I even had my own food stylist assistant

A super quick n’ easy and of course tasty lunch. It was one of those kitchen raid lunches, when your starving and can’t remember what went in and sometimes it works and other times it’s a flop but this one banged! 😋

HOLIDAY FOOD P**N 😛🍤🫒🍉

After a tip to Spain recently I enjoyed some incredible fresh seafood on the beautiful Balearic islands of Ibiza & Mallorca.

It’s nice to use the different ingredients on offer and make the most of outdoor cooking when abroad, all clubbing in to create some fabulous family feasts. But let’s not kid ourselves we ate out mostly and here’s just a few of the delish experiences we enjoyed!

Spag’bowl 🍝
.with a veggies twist! You’ll have yourself second guessing if it’s actually got meat in.

Serves 4
4 veggie sausages (Richmonds are the one 👌)
2 carrots
1 red pepper
2 celery sticks
1 onion
2 garlic
1 red chilli
1-2 springs rosemary
2 tbl soy sauce
2 tbl balsamic
1 bay leaf
1 tsp oregano
1 tbl tom pure
2 tins chopped toms
Spaghetti
Parmesan cheese
Olive oil
Salt n’ pepper

🍷In a good food processor or big blender blitz the carrot, celery, red pepper, onion, garlic, sausages & chilli

🍷Tip the mixture in to a pan on high heat with a glug of oil.

🍷 sprinkle in the oregano, rosemary & a pinch of salt, squeeze in the tommy pure and mix till coated

🍷Next pour in the soy sauce, balsamic and chuck in the bay leaf, mix together while tipping in the chopped toms

🍷 have your pasta boiling away in salted water

🍷serve up with a generous grating of cheese, black pepper and a delicious wine. Enjoy 😋

PANCAKES 🥞

Guilt free, dairy free, gluten free banana pancakes!

2 bananas
2 eggs
pinch of baking powder
1tsp vanilla extract
glug of oat milk
dairy free butter
your choice of fruity toppings!

🥞 mash 2 bananas to a purée then add beaten eggs, pinch of salt, splash of oat milk, baking soda the vanilla extract & mix well together

🥞 heat up a non-stick pan and melt in the butter

🥞ladle your mixture in to the pan to create 3 mini pancakes, repeat until all your mix is gone!

🥞 have fun flipping then stack between raspberry yoghurt, topped with blueberries, raspberry’s, honey, roasted buckwheat, squeeze of lemon and honey - serve and enjoy 🤤

Mushroom stroganoff 🍄

These silky mushrooms & creamy mustard mash is the perfect combo to a delish & easy Monday night dinner.

Serves 3/4
Olive oil for frying
2 shallots, diced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tsp paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
600g mixed mushrooms, sliced
200ml white wine
150ml Oatly milk
150ml Veg stock
1/2 lemon juices
Enough potatoes for mashing
1-2 tsp Dijon mustard
Sprinkle of parsley

Method
* Firstly get your potatoes on the boil in salted water.
* Next heat olive oil in a pan and fry the shallots.
* Add the paprika & garlic, cook for 1min then throw in the mushrooms and cook till soft.
* Pour in the wine and bring to a boil for a couple mins. Then add in the stock, turning the heat to a gentle simmer for a few more mins before stirring through the oatly milk, continue to mix till thickened then take off the heat.
* Mash your potatoes in butter, milk, Dijon mustard, salt n’ pepper.
* Serve the stroganoff up lathered over your creamy mash and enjoy!
Oh and serve with a sprinkle of parsley

Prawn ceviche 🍤

Ceviche is a South American seafood dish, typically made from fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices such as lemon or lime.

I discovered this delicious dish when we traveled Colombia back in 2017, every day served fresh on the beach for just $3!

I recreated this beauty here for a lovely Mexican themed dinner party, which I catered last week 🍴

We have been rather quiet on here since all the festivities so thought I’d introduce myself again and tell you about HOT 🥕

My names Megan the face behind all the food. And HOT stands for House of Tasty (if you hadn’t worked that out already) and we are a pescatarian, vegetarian & vegan friendly catering company.

Since starting in December 2019 we have been offering home cooked meals, catered for events, organised supper clubs and gained residency at a local restaurant.

My goal is to deliver fresh, locally sourced, sustainable & tasty food made with love from my kitchen to yours 💛
