Thanks to everyone who supported our fabulous village event at the weekend. It was great to see so many of you arrive for a gloriously sunny day in Mickley. There was much fun had by all, copious amounts of tea and cake consumed and we absolutely loved the big smiles on faces, as our wonderful gardens worked their magic. Sunday was amazing and we can't wait to see how much money was raised for charity. We'll be back to let you know soon. Thanks once again x

Psst! Here's a sneak peek of our fabulous Mickley Here & Now Photographic Exhibition, which is part tomorrow's Mickley Open Gardens (Sunday, 23 June). You will find scores of fascinating photos from bygone days when the village was a thriving, industrious hub with a flax mill down by the river and three pubs! It's wonderful to see how different life was back then and to be able to chart the physical changes to the village - and to recall the many wonderful characters that once lived here.
The exhibition is open throughout the day and can be found in the village church - do come along to see. . . x

A beautiful white planting scheme – pure, simple and extremely elegant. Come and take a peek at this and other glorious gardens in Mickley on Sunday 23 June, 11am to 4.30pm. Our Open Gardens event takes place every other year, so don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to stroll around the gardens, as it will be another two years before the village gates open to the public again. What a great spot to sit and ponder! Mickley village gardens are the perfect places to relax and take in the view. And, what magnificent views we have with plenty of beautiful borders, pots a-plenty, streams, ponds, trees, shrubs, and some wonderful features. What better way to finish off a visit to Mickley Open Gardens than by taking home something green and leafy from our fabulous plant stall. It will be packed with young plants, carefully raised and nurtured by villages to help raise money for Marie Curie UK and St John's Church.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our Open Gardens day on Sunday, 23 June from 11am to 4.30pm. Eagle-eyed followers might spot we have a Harry Potter fan in our midst! Thankfully for us, this JK Rowling devotee is an extremely keen gardener too, so there is a huge amount of tender young plant nurturing going on in their greenhouse. Not only does Mickley have the most gorgeous gardens, the skies have been pretty spectacular here too. We stepped out on to the lane on Friday night and looked up - and this is what we saw! Dancing lights of pinks, purples and greens all above our rooftops. How lucky were we!

There's a whole host of tray bakes, sponge cakes, chocolate gateaux, scones, fruit cake, table dainties and every kind of savoury, from the humble sausage roll to quiches and bite-sized mini pasties. Come to our fabulous Open Gardens day on 23 June, pop in for a brew to whet your whistle, check out a few gardens, arrive back for lunch before continuing your horticultural tour and when finished, stop off for a cuppa and a big, squidgy slice of cake before your homeward journey. Don't forget your money - due to a lack of mobile signal - we are a cash-only event. All proceeds are being donated to our village church and Marie Curie. See you soon! x

On Sunday, 23 June, we are offering you a wonderful opportunity to step into some of Mickley's most beautiful, hidden-away garden gems. From 11am to 4.30pm you can explore to your heart's content, before sitting back to relax with afternoon tea in our lovely village hall.

We are so excited that Mickley Open Gardens is back this year. It will take place on Sunday 23 June in our pretty North Yorkshire village at HG4 3JE. We are inviting you to visit us on the day to look around more than 20 fantastic gardens for only £5 for adults and it's completely free for children.
There will be coffees, lunches and afternoon teas in the village hall, a BBQ, prosecco and Pimms bar, plant stall, vintage tractor display and ice-creams.
We do hope that you can come, it promises to be such a wonderful day.

Mickley Open Gardens Day

Some of North Yorkshire’s finest gardens will be on parade this summer when the pretty village of Mickley, near Ripon, extends a warm welcome to its Open Gardens event on Sunday, 23 June.
Visitors will enjoy – and be inspired by – a colourful collection of outdoor spaces in a wide range of sizes and styles, from cottage gardens with their casual planting and old-fashioned floral favourites to modern landscaped affairs with bold architectural features.
The day will run from 11am to 4.30pm, with a plant stall, ice-creams and coffees, lunches and afternoon teas served in the village hall. All proceeds will be donated to Mickley’s St John’s Church and Marie Curie.

Did you know that water lilies prefer calm, still water away from fountains, pumps, cascades and other turbulence?

There are several water features and ponds featuring these beautiful flowers in the village, so make sure you you don't miss them on Mickley Open Gardens.
