From stand-up comedy to darkly funny fiction– women and wit is the theme for this awe-inspiring author evening.

Our guest speakers are brilliant at writing strong female leads and tackling feminist themes whilst injecting humour into serious or dark issues.

(Lucy Roth) – a writer with a love of flawed characters and tales from the darker side of life – gives a Q& A and discusses her brand-new thriller, When Sally Killed Harry, which is being described as 'darkly funny' and 'a revenge thriller that packs a punch'.

, author of The Stand-Up Mam, discusses the importance of women following their dreams and taking time for themselves sometimes. A lover of breaking out of her comfort zone, Kay also talks about her writing and publishing journey which she describes as 'pretty brutal' at times.

Stories from Darker Times.
Set in the seventeenth century, The Wicked of the Earth tells a story of avengement in the aftermath of the Newcastle witch trials. Encompassing dark themes and wild settings, AD Bergin talks about the themes of the book and his love of historical fiction.

To set the mood for an atmospheric evening at the Gallery, Stephen Tomlin from the Border Readers tells stories of darker days steeped in history.

Well, this was a bit awkward…

Turned up to one of our Little Felton Book Festival meetings, ready to get organised, only to find that we had exactly the same "I Totally Got This" notebooks. Same colour, same size—same slightly overconfident slogan. Clearly, we’re either incredibly in sync or just both easily influenced by good stationery…

Either way, if this is a sign of how well we’re going to plan the festival, I think we totally got this!

Do you have what it takes to be a Golden Age sleuth?

Join Fiona Veitch Smith, author of the Miss Clara Vale Mysteries and Poppy Denby Investigates, for an evening of sleuthing. Fiona leads a fun, interactive Whodunnit session, where you can find out if you have what it takes to be a Golden Age sleuth. Feel free to wear your 1920s or 30s glad rags - Fiona will be! After we've unveiled the killer, Fiona will give a reading from her latest book The Penford Manor Murders, set in south east Northumberland in the summer of 1930 and a Q&A, where we'll discover her writing secrets.

We have just finished The Wicked of the Earth by AD Bergin, and loved it! Set during the Newcastle witch trials, this dark and gripping novel brings history to life in the most chilling way. I don't want to give too much away but if you love historical fiction with a haunting edge, this one is an absolute must-read.

Even better—Andrew Bergin himself will be at The Little Felton Book Festival on Friday 28th March! A great chance to hear about his in-depth research, writing process, and what’s next. Don’t miss it!

Life is BUSY. Between work, family, and everything in between, it’s easy to forget to take a moment just for you. But today, I did just that—I grabbed a book from the library at the leisure centre and enjoyed a whole 45 minutes of uninterrupted reading and a cuppa while the kids were at their swimming lesson. Bliss!

Libraries in leisure centres are a game-changer, making books more accessible to everyone. Whether you’re squeezing in a few pages between errands or discovering a new favourite author while waiting for a class to finish, it’s proof that books fit into even the busiest of lives.

At The Little Felton Book Festival (March 27-29), we’ll be celebrating the power of stories and the ways they can be part of everyday life. Because sometimes, all you need is a good book and a little pocket of time.

When was the last time you stole a moment for yourself with a book?

(The book was Sarah's List by Elizabeth Gunn)

Look what we spotted in Barter Books Alnwick this week!

Kimberley was one of the first authors to sign up to support our Little book festival last year. We were thrilled to spot her debut novel Love Lindisfarne on display. It is a heart warming romance set on, you guessed it, Lindisfarne (or Holy Island to the locals). You can pick up your copy or from Amazon.

You might just be lucky enough to see Love Lindisfarne at this year's The Little Felton Book Festival too 😉
