Some of this week’s bouquets and posies 💐

I’ll be taking a break from flowers for a few weeks as we head off on our holidays this weekend so I’ll be closing the online store temporarily and you’ll notice the farm stand won’t be stocked with blooms unless our family members who are farm sitting decide to get creative and have a go 😂. I’m hoping they’ll continue to put eggs out for us though!

The stand will be stocked up until this weekend so if you need a flower fix or a gift please stop by :)

I had the pleasure of flowering James and Rachel’s wedding last month at the beautiful All Saints Church in Standon. Rachel really wanted lots of flowers and a nice mixed palette of bright and seasonal blooms and I think they look absolutely amazing when combined with the stained glass windows. And of course a dairy farmers wedding had to include milk churns outside the church!

I’ll pop a video of Rachel’s gorgeous bouquet in my stories for you to take a look at. It included a drape using material from her dress combined with ivory chiffon and a number of sentimental charms for Rachel to hold close to her when walking down the aisle which really made it much more special.

Apparently someone turned 40 this weekend … no idea who that Bjorn Borg looking guy in the photo is though 😂

A big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate and to everyone who sent cards, messages and gifts. My kitchen table is now laden with champagne and I’m planning on gradually consuming it all.

I’m back on the flowers now so if there’s anything you need please let me know.

Ryan 🥳

Hi all, my birthday weekend is looming (yes, it’s a big one) and the flower studio is being transformed in to the ultimate party venue so I wanted to let you know I won’t be accepting any orders for bouquets until next week. Any orders placed via the website will be cancelled and refunded.

We’ll still have posies available from the farm stand should you need a smaller bunch but it’s unlikely we’ll be refreshing stock as we usually do so these will be limited.

Business will resume as normal when I’m officially over the hill 😬

Big thanks to who snapped this pic of me when flowering up a wedding recently.

The sun is shining and we have some beautiful blooms available for you today.

If you’re collecting from the farm stand it may be worth bringing a small vase or bucket with cool water with you to help your blooms on their journey as even short car rides in this heat can shorten the life of your blooms. Re-cut stems when you get home and plunge them in to nice cool water to maximise water uptake.

More flower care advice can be found on the blog (link in stories).

Gorgeous Bridgerton vibes for today’s flowers including the most stunning scented homegrown roses, giant scabious, Astrantia, Stocks and Lilies paired with lots of eucalyptus and applemint. All deliveries are done and so I thought I’d take the chance to introduce myself to my new and existing followers.

I’m Ryan and I started ‘Bloom by Ryan Lewis’ back in 2018 after longing to set up a flower farm for many, many years. I’m a florist/grower focussing on creating luxury and romantic florals for weddings and events and I grow many of my flowers here on the farm in Blackbrook, Staffordshire.

I’ve always had green fingers and a love of floristry but I formalised my training studying horticulture with the RHS back in Wales gaining an Advanced Diploma and I later added to this by studying floristry at college and working with leading event and wedding florists to get hands on experience. I often get asked if I do the flowers or if I’m the delivery guy but yes I do the flowers!

Nowadays I split my time between the smallholding and the flowers. I sell flowers from the farm gate, ensuring this is always topped up with flowers and eggs. I deliver flowers locally, offer flower subscriptions via the website (weekly and monthly), offer exclusive hire for weddings and events and I also run workshops throughout the year from my studio.

Aside from flowers and farming I have a big passion for tennis (watching and playing although I’m better at the former) and I also love to read/listen to audiobooks. When working I’ll usually be listening to something or other and I can go through several books a week when working on big events.

So that’s a little about me. If you’ve got this far well done and I look forward to meeting you soon if we haven’t met already!

Ryan 💐💐

P L A T I N U M J U B I L E E

The big bank holiday weekend is here and to mark the occasion I was invited to take part in a week long flower festival based just up the road from me at Saint Leonards Church in Woore. If you’re local please do go and pop in as there are some truly gorgeous designs to see and the ladies have worked so hard to get the church all flowered up and beautiful.

The windows of the church all represent a decade of the queens rein and I was asked to create an installation that represented the 2010’s, specifically the Queen opening the 2012 Olympic Games. I couldn’t figure out how to depict the Queen parachuting in with James Bond and so I went with a more practical Olympic Rings design using a mix of materials for the rings, including woven black willow, moss and ribbon combines with our own blooms and some purchased flowers. As the design needs to last a while in a hot window it was also essential to keep the stems in water. To add more colour I’ve used water retaining gel balls which will then be reused after the festival.

I hope you enjoy the design. Have a great extended weekend all!

It’s been a busy few weeks and it looks as though that’s set to continue with lots of flowers going out this week and weddings to flower up.

As I’ll be largely preoccupied this week please ensure you give as much notice as possible if you would like any fresh flowers 💐

I wish I was one of those people who are good with the behind the scenes videos and images but sadly I’m not and as a one man operation it’s very much all hands to the pump, as it were, during peaks like Mother’s Day. I did manage to snap this pic very quickly in the studio today though with one of my Mothers Day bouquets.

Today I’ve been busy beavering away conditioning flower orders, cutting and conditioning foliage and flowers from the farm and putting together orders and delivering them. It’s been a blur to say the least and the next couple of days will be similar although strangely, Mothers Day itself is much more manageable than Saturday for some strange reason. I’m not grumbling though - it means I can get to Sunday tennis at a reasonable hour 😂

Thank you to everyone who’s already ordered. I don’t have any more delivery slots available now but I will have posies available from the farm stand on a first come first serve basis if you’re quick!

Have a lovely weekend!

Mother’s Day Blooms 💐✨

Mothering Sunday is next weekend and we have some fantastic options available to you to show your mum or mother figure in your life just how much she means to you.

We have some gorgeous bouquets available (please see the online shop for more info), a bouquet making workshop on the 9th, flower subscription services and we also have gift vouchers available which can be redeemed against workshops and flowers. I’ll also stock the flower stand with flowers ahead of the big day so if you’d like to stop buy and pick up a posy or three you can do that also but please be aware pre-ordering is recommended to avoid disappointment.

If you have any questions about any of the above please do get in touch.

About: Bloom by Ryan Lewis

Welcome to Bloom by Ryan Lewis, a flower farm and artisan floristry company based in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire on the borders of Cheshire and Shropshire. We supply the surrounding area for all floristry requirements whether it be a small bouquet for a friend or family member, weddings, sympathy flowers, events or wholesale services. We also offer services throughout the UK for weddings and events and run regular workshops throughout the year.

We use as many of our homegrown blooms as possible in all of our arrangements to reduce the need for imported flowers and foliage, although this will vary based on the season. All of our produce is grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides, meaning there will be nothing nasty in your designs, and we only use biodegradable and recycled products for decoration and packing.

Using the no-dig method of growing, all of the goodness that goes in to producing our blooms comes from homemade compost, manure from the farm and homemade comfrey and nettle teas. Pest control comes in the form of what nature provides - ladybirds, hoverflies and mini beats, although the chickens tend to see to the slugs and snails!
