Yes, it’s true! We’ve decided to call time on our beloved party.

Change is the only constant and after 5.5 years of running the party, we all feel that we’re in a very different place personally………. and geographically Oana’s in Australia for heaven’s sake!

We didn’t expect or intend for it to go on as long as it has, with all 3 of us wanting new things from life it’s time to put it to bed. When we started the party in a pre-covid Newcastle, we just wanted to put on a party for like-minded q***rs who appreciate good music. All saying that if we reckon 40 people will turn up that’s a win :D Yet, to our surprise, the first bloody party SOLD OUT, with every other event selling out since. So to put something on that meant so much to so many has truly been an honour. We feel Newcastle’s flourishing q***r party scene is in safe hands with so many incredible parties that have come to fruition since we started.

On a personal note, I need to extend my gratitude to Oana and Shammy for being such integral parts of the party for so long, it genuinely would not have been possible if it wasn’t for you guys, I am truly in your debt. Also, I need to extend my humble thanks to Chris & Dale who with equal measure came into Pushback and gave so much of their love, time, and energy so THANK YOU. I’d like to thank the ravers, DJ’s, drag queens and the staff at both The Lubberfiend and Cobalt Studios for 5.5 amazing years.

So finally, we set sail onto our final party with no other than captain Wes Baggaley at the helm, OH YEAHHHH ;) So strap in, or on, get your kit off, and put on your dancing shoes because it’s going to be a Pride rave to remember 🥳🎉🥳

🎉🥳🎉 IT’S OUR 5TH BIRTHDAY 🥳🎉🥳

Yes we can’t believe it either! How time flies when you’re having fun ay? We’re very very excited for this, rumour is we have an old friend making a return. Tickets go live at 7:30 this evening.

Also, we have a big announcement - a bittersweet one at that. This Pushback will be the last featuring a drag show (for a while), we wave a fond farewell to our lovely drag queens Latrine Lurka and Travisty as they wish to pursue new ventures after 5 years with us. We’re so grateful for them being part of the crew for so long, keep an eye out for them and give them a massive hug xoxox

Also, in the pursuit of making the club a safer and more enjoyable experience for all……… PUSHBACK WILL NOW BE A 21+ PARTY. We appreciate some may be disappointed but we believe this is the best course of action going forward.

SO AGAIN, PUSHBACK WILL NOW BE 21+. ANYONE BELOW THE AGE OF 21 WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ACCESS TO THE EVENT.

So with all that, see you on the dance floor :D

Remove-Me

A product of the infamous 90's free party scene of England's wild south-west, Remove-me has spent much of the past 25 years swerving the confines of generic nightclubs and the nightclub industry. 

Co-founder of London's infamous underground party SUB:SYSTEM,Remove-me is a life long devoted record digger, playing a constantly evolving sound, taking in elements of early 90s-00s progressive house/trance, acid, techno, goa & psy. Whether playing in forest's, warehouses or dingy squat basements, his sets undulate and build tension with an array of feelings and unique storytelling groove.

With over 2 decades experience and defining skills Remove-me is often and deservedly found guesting at events and DIY gatherings across the UK and Europe and holds residency for the renowned q***r party Adonis and Berlin collective Hypersoft, where he has been able to further showcase his deep experience and versatility as an artist.

Richard Gregory

Rich’s eclectic music tastes draw on a lifetime’s obsession with electronic music. He started DJing some 10 years ago, playing at DIY spaces on the murky fringes of club culture. Recently, he’s been co-running SUB:SYTEM – a London-based collective that host warehouse and swampy forest parties in the nether regions of the city. SUB:SYSTEM has earned a growing reputation among those interested in trance and the progressive end of the musical spectrum, bringing together local and international artists in a community-focused space. Outside of London, Rich has carried his records around the UK, and further afield to locations in Europe. His sound merges the psychedelic and playful, exploring prog, acid, and trance, refracted through a lifelong passion for house music.
