Siblyback Santa Scamper

Siblyback Lake have made the decision this afternoon that they would rather we did not to go ahead with this Sunday's Siblyback Santa Scamper therefore unfortunately we have to postpone this weekends event.

Although Sundays forecast by itself does not look too bad as it stands, the concern is that due to the forecast for Saturday, access to the site and the site itself may sustain damage / have trees down. This would cause a potential hazard to yourselves and the forecast weather conditions would not allow any tree removal / path clearance to occur on Sunday morning. We have considered moving the event back to the afternoon but the site does not feel, due to the conditions, this would be the right thing to do. In addition the forecast may worsen and we have had enquiries from runners intending to travel down on the Saturday.

As a result we have no choice but to move the event to a new date, which will be Saturday 4th January 2025. We wholeheartedly apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. This isn't a decision we have taken lightly but it has been taken out of our hands on this occasion.

All entrants have been emailed with further detail and options, please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Kind Regards
Dave

01/12/2024

On the 30th November 1872, at a somewhat damp cricket ground in Glasgow, Scotland lined up against the auld enemy England for what would be the very first official football international*. 152 years later to the very day, all be it with considerably less inflated pig bladders, a nest of furry trail runners were to be found conglomerating near The Rook with a Book. Not only were they gathering with the aim of tackling the infamous infinity loop of Fowey but it would appear that some of them were going for a world record attempt at post-race custard cream consumption.

This fuzzy pod of runners, specially selected because of their legendary running abilities had 4 distances to choose from, ranging from the perfectly normal 8km right the way through to elite 32km. I say elite because as well as attempting to complete 4 whole laps of the luscious loop, this group also decided that they initially didn’t want to start heading off in the same direction as everyone else…! Thankfully, due to the phenomenal athletic prowess and fairly high-pitched squealing of a lithe marshal lurking near the start, disaster was averted.

As I sit here typing in preparation for the first PGE household Christmas movie of 2024, namely Die Hard (Yes it is….) all that is left for me to say is well done all, have a relaxing Sunday. Oh and congratulations to any of the staff who actually deciphered the enigma code pasty identification challenge…

*Resulting in a nail biting 0-0 draw.
