Wakey Wakey, get out of your Thomas The Tanks, nibble on a thermonuclear pop tart and grab a cold shower, 'tis event day! Although to be honest you still have about 9 hours to go so really you can probably have a little bit of a lay in. Why don't you stay in bed watching Joker: Folie a Deux, fall instantly back to sleep and we will see you in the Forest a tad later.

01/11/2024

As we progress merrily into Autumn and leave the scorching, bone dry Nambian like heat of the Cornish Summer becomes a distant dusty memory, we enter a period of transition. Leaving the ghastly goblins & goolies behind us, (let us not forget Halloween either whilst we are at it), we stride boldly forward towards Mariah Carey and yet another seemingly endless series of challenges to my besieged waistline. Prior to the month preceding my gym renewal we do however have November to deal with, and the 3 cardio delights that reside within, starting with:

The Cardinham Woods - Forestry England 5 & 10 Mile Twilight Run – Sat 9th November ( 8 places left).
A challenging 5 Mile loop exploring some of the decidedly not flat bits of Cardinham in failing light, Canicross welcome.
https://www.resultsbase.net/event/6923

The Lobster Lollop – Sat 16th November – (20 places left).
2.5k, 5k, 10k & 10 Mile super duper flat out and backs along the Camel Trail from Padstow in support of the National Lobster Hatchery, Canicross welcome.
https://www.resultsbase.net/event/6904

The Readymoney Ramble – Sat 30th November.
6k, 16k, 24k & 32k Multi Terrain loops starting and finishing in Fowey, taking in Readymoney Cove, Polridimouth & Fowey itself.

Recent slanderous accusations circulating within the news and social media regarding The Cardinham Woods - Forestry England 5 & 10 Mile Twilight run and sadistic levels of elevation without any consideration of the fact that potential participants are in fact not actually goats are true.

5 mile loop exploring some of the 'hillier' aspects of Cardinham.
10 Places left.
Canicross welcome.

πŸ‘»MARSHAL MONDAYπŸŽƒ

A spooktacular thankyou to all of our superstar scary marshals for braving the forest on Friday night!

It was by far the biggest turnout we have ever had at Haldon but thanks to you guys, we have had some equally epic feedback! So THANK YOU for your time, encouragement & support of both us & the runners. Couldn’t do it without you 😘

Lots of Love

27/10/2024

β€˜We few, we happy few’

On St.Crispin’s day 2024, on the 609th Anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt, 300 extremely lightly armoured runners (leotards, leggings & popsocks) gathered amongst the trees in the failing light for the terrifying trial that lay ahead. They had dressed to impress, by jolly if this crowd were going to fall victim to a festering monstrosity in the forest, then they were going to look good as they were being devoured.

Their mission, was threefold:
β€’ To enter the misty primordial forest and navigate the winding trail with a view to keeping one step ahead of the zombies in pursuit & eventually finding the way out.
β€’ Avoid the abhorrent Albino Alpaca of Haldon at all costs.
β€’ Attempt to look dignified whilst simultaneously being jumped on by a deadly orange clad despicable duplet whilst a photographer attempts to incinerate your retinas.

Not everyone made it out of the Forest in front of the undead, two were taken by the Alpaca, unfortunately no one managed to look dignified…

Friday was also the 170th anniversary of the infamous charge of the light brigade, admittedly there were much fewer horses on Friday than at the battle of Balaclava and the swords were not quite as pointy, however it was still stirring stuff watching them charge down the hill, wands & meat cleavers held aloft. At this point it’s probably worth noting that the few survivors that did manage to cross the finish line were not quite as composed as they had been during the initial charge, and most were out of breath for some reason.

We had fun runners making a medium risk daylight dash before most of the Zombies had clocked in for duty, we had 5k & 10k Canicross in failing light confident in the ability of their four-legged companions to keep the rotting corpses at bay, and we had 5k & 10k Running dead bravely plunging headfirst into the trees to a highly probable grisly demise, hats off to you all!
