THIS NEARLY BROKE ME!!!
Dahlias: tucked in.
Me: absolutely not okay 😂
Mulching, covering with 8 bales of straw and wrestling a 21m x 14m tarpaulin in wind, rain and full mud boot chaos.
Glad that chapter’s over… roll on spring!
Right I think I NEED some waterproof dungarees.. CLASSY 🤣

Ranunculus experiment.. with a side of mouse prevention!

Trying a little ranunculus trial this growing season, growing a batch for spring blooms under cover well away from my main patch and hopefully away from the mice! 🐭
Same corms, new spot in a cage…
will they thrive or sulk? 🌸

FINALLY! I had a productive day planting hardy annuals, figuring out what thrives and what gets devoured! Some are thriving, others are tiny... Luckily, I've got some backups! Today's additions are Ammi Majus, Ammi Visnaga, and Rudbeckia, all tucked in under a fleece tunnel for protection from the hungry wildlife. Direct sown Larkspur and Icelandic poppies didn't make it, possibly due to wildlife snacking... Next batch is coming, maybe late winter will be better! This weekend's tasks: clearing summer plants and sowing winter cover crops to nourish the soil. Wish me luck!

Snip, snip, arrange💐

Every bouquet starts as a bucket of blooms, each one freshly picked from the field, from a jumble of stems to a swooshy bouquet in just 20 seconds!
(in real life there’s a lot more faffing, stem shuffling, and me talking to the flowers 😅).
It’s messy, it’s fun and comes together beautifully.

It might look quick here but behind each bouquet is time, thought, and a whole lot of love ❤️
