Well after much persuasion from my friend Rachel Lane to enter the 2023 London Marathon
I can now announce that I have been accepted by Diabetes UK to be part of their team
When I applied I had to give a good reason for wanting to take part with the Diabetes Charity
I included in my letter that my son Reece was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 3
He's now almost 23 and have joined me at a running group that was set up during lockdown
I informed them that in 2003 I joined a Children's Diabetes Group at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital
We fund raised for the local children to take them to different types of activities such as Snow tubing, Archery, Go Karting, Laser shooting plus weekend breaks away.
I spent around 15 years on the committee which I even had a spell as Chairman.
And the journey I've had with Norwich Social Joggers and how this group has changed so many lives and has brought so many people together that are now best friends and like an extended family
Once the Norwich Social Joggers found out I was looking into entering through a charity, I had so much backing and support, which then helped me make my mind up.
Asking for any help in donations or fundraising is my weakness in life, so this part is very difficult for me
But I know there are so many people that are 100% behind me on this
I now have 5 months to train for this event which is held on Sunday 23rd April
And 5 months to raise the minimum £2100 they need
So from the bottom of my heart
Any amount of donations would be very grateful
Thank you all for taking time reading my story
