British Flowers week is being celebrated this year from 16th to 22nd June. Here’s your guide to everything you need to know about it.

British Flowers Week is over 10 years old and was set up by New Covent Garden Flower Market to champion the UK’s cut flower industry, celebrating growers, wholesalers, and florists who work with British-grown flowers. now run .flowers.week and the theme of this years event is Flowers For the Future.

There will be a range of activities taking place all over the UK including flower flashes, pop-ups, window displays, farm tours, collaborations, sustainable floristry workshops, and many more.

A few to mention include Friday Flowers with for a morning of pure flowery indulgence. Live near Leigh-on-Sea then you are in luck as will again be marking British Flowers Week with their “Finders Keepers” bunches. Little posies of British grown flowers are wrapped and placed around Leigh-on-Sea. Why not visit an artisan flower farm based just outside Ledbury in Herefordshire for a midsummers evening farm tour or perhaps try your hand at a Flower Pressing workshop

Have a great British Flowers Week and let us know what you do to celebrate it!

Chelsea in Bloom 2025 - come along and see my highlights of my visit to Chelsea in Bloom. This was my first visit and it was great to be part of something that celebrated flowers so much. It is definitely worth a visit and my advice would be to go at the start of the week when the flowers are freshest. Its usually busy so wear comfy shoes and be prepared to walk the streets as seeing them all takes time. Make a morning or afternoon of it and enjoy Chelsea at its best.

One of the main things that struck me was that nowhere made a feature or even a mention of British grown flowers. Lets work together to make a change for 2026 and encourage to work on this.

Over the new few months I’ll be launching my new British flowers newsletter and leading a change in how we all buy more grown flowers. Exciting times so hope you will join me for the ride

Big shout out to Zoe Ball, Jo Wiley and BBC Radio 2 for highlighting that today is actually National Carnation Day (well in the US anyway…apparently it is in honour of William McKinley, the 25th president of the Unites States. This got me thinking. Do you love or loathe carnations? We recently used carnations in our vases for the first time including this pale yellow carnation with a delicate hint of pink. What do you think of carnations? We would love to know.
