A valentine idea: British flowers aren’t in season yet, so why not give a person you love a card with a sweet message and a fabulous gift voucher to visit our flower farm, Pied Beauty Flowers. This is based at Rycote Farm, only two miles from Thame, Oxfordshire. Pick Your Own Vouchers are £35 medium-sized bucket or £65 for a large bucket (as in the see photo).

I have spent hours at home pouring over flower colour combinations, often fearing if someone watching on would think I was mad. I’ve sometimes wondered myself too.

So, I am reassured (and delighted!) that appreciates the nuances.

I’d happily say the tonal match between the tulip and the viola ranunculus was an accident, but anyone who knows me, will know otherwise. I do get rather consumed in the detail.

I planted my tulips late this year, so I still have some fabulous varieties to come. They’re open to the air but have transparent lids to protect them from the rain so fortunately they haven’t been battered by the rain. I also have a whole crop of ranunculus in a polytunnel about to bloom and others grown outside which will follow.

Wonderfully blowsy ranunculus and fresh grass-fed beef on sale at Rose Dale’s Farm Shop, Manor Farm, Chearsley on Saturday 27 April 10.00-12.00.

The flowers are grown locally at Pied Beauty Flower Farm outside Thame. They are so huge that they are sold by the stem.

Like the animals reared on Rose Dale’s Farm, they have been cared for without using harmful chemicals and fertilisers.

Two fantastic sustainable goods under one roof.

For Manor Farm main drive, use the postcode HP18 0DL and turn off the main road through Chearsley onto the farm drive.

Fabulous tulips and ravishing ranunculus for sale at Pied Beauty Flower Farm in Thame, Oxfordshire. We have all coloured tulips and carmine, white, pale pink and deep violet ranunculus. Their stems are super strong and up to 60 cm long. Even one of these beauties looks great in a vase.

Rose’s delicious grass fed beef will also be on sale and there are delightful new born lambs too.
