There aren’t always images to show what I’m busy with. Ceremony writing would just involve my notes and my computer. Beautiful to me because it’s when the words transfer from paper to screen, via my brain, and are woven into a story, be it of love or loss, love and loss. It felt like Heaven on Earth on my early morning walk this morning. A chance to breathe deeply, greet the sheep cheerily and set the tone for the next few busy days. I am VERY lucky. *I was standing in the middle of a little stone circle, looking up the Eden Valley to Penrith, across to the Pennines, over to Mallerstang and around to Shap Fell and the M6 corridor. This reel has examples of ring warming, creation of a ceremonial space, hand tying, lighting a Unity Candle, sharing your favourite tipple from the Quaich, signing a certificate of marriage (not legally binding in our case, you’ll have done the legal paperwork at the Registry office at some other point) et cetera! A ceremonial space was created for J & P to stand in for the duration of their ceremony. 🫶I laid down a circle of ivy, symbolising fidelity and then a friend, with two young helpers, sprinkled over eucalyptus, which has a purifying effect and rose petals for love, of course, but also joy and gentleness. Finally I sprinkled some compostable glitter into the space to bring sparkle into their lives. ✨ Every ceremony different, every ceremony personal. 🩷Talking of, when I asked family and friends to support our lovely couple throughout their marriage with a rousing ‘we do’, P’s old Sergeant Major rose to his feet and in his big, booming voice demanded and even more rousing response! Lots of positivity and little challenges to myself this month to keep me busy and focussed to keep the sadness at bay. I’m going for ‘one take’ videos because I am, who I am! No more re-recording because my grey hair, wrinkles and double chin are on show. Spontaneity when sharing. I wish I could have taken you all on my early morning dog walk/litter pick/ self medication this morning! Apart from picking up way too much litter (what’s wrong with people?) my walk was truly exhilarating.
