As I get older I believe more and more in serendipity. I met today’s family through a girl I used to go to school with, forty years ago, on the Wirral. So, as well as having the honour of leading the Celebration of Life for their husband/dad, I reunited with two old school friends. Family, friends and neighbours gathered, in front of the most amazing view, to mark his final rite of passage. Everyone used their talents and worked together to erect the marquee, decorate the area and the focal point grey Fergie tractor, set up the sound system, make a lectern out of bits of old banister, et cetera. His son spoke eloquently and lovingly of his dad, we sang together and listened to the most stirring choice of music. Swallows swooped to the phrasing of the music. I have been so remarkably restrained in not sharing details of Saturday’s fabulous local farming wedding. 🚜 First up, the fact that they moved the location from the top of Stainmore, down the valley to a sheltered field, next to the river a couple of days before. We had the most awful windy storms at the end of last week and a tipi ceremony tent and massive reception marquee would not have still been in Cumbria if erected in the original location. But farming folk just ‘bray on’ and solve that problem. Impassable muddy track transformed into a road in no time! A Celebrant Led Wedding Ceremony is unlike any other because it is totally bespoke and personal to the couple, as unique as they are. Church ceremonies, by their very nature, include a lot of religion and registrar ceremonies have many limitations because of time constraints. Because they are so busy they can’t devote the time a celebrant does to making the ceremony entirely about the couple. They can only slot names from a post it note into the set script they provide. (I’ve seen this recently.) I’m not dissing either of these weddings because each have their place. But if you want an a ceremony that is, truly, all about you then engage a celebrant. What makes a Celebrant Ceremony SO Special! 💕We get to know you and you get to know us. By the time of your actual wedding ceremony you will be welcomed by a familiar face. In my case, grinning like the Cheshire Cat! 😁 We will have met, possibly several times, before the day. If miles allow, in person, if not via Zoom or FaceTime. In the case of B & J, Mr G and I had a trip out over to Loweswater in February to meet this gorgeous pair for a reccy by the lake shore to chose the ideal location and suss out a back up, if needs must. I met them there again on the evening before the wedding with family and friends to see how it would work. On the actual day a wedding ceremony in the shore of Loweswater could not have been more perfect! They kindly asked @laraluisphotography and I to stay for the wedding breakfast because we were friends by then. That is the biggest and best bit about a celebrant led ceremony. You’re married by someone who cares about you and making your ceremony the very best it can be. Also, we only officiate one ceremony a day so it’s totally relaxed, without any pressure on time at all. SLOWVEMBER 🎆 DAY 5 🎆 Fireworks🎆 It had to be this day, back in May. Party at the Pier Head in Liverpool on Eurovision final night. The city was truly ‘United by Music 🎶 ’. My heart was filled with joy to overflowing❤️. Singing and dancing (for nine hours) 💃🏻, with people from every corner of the globe, in the place I still call home, with friends I adore will stay with me forever. It also happened to be my birthday as the Liver Building clock chimed midnight and this song, the only song it could be, rang out across The Mersey.
