✨ UPLS Spring Law Ball 2023! ✨

And there we have it! The final of 5 events organised by Gracie & Jasmine this academic year!

The Spring Law Ball was a HUGE success. All our members enjoyed a fantastic time, and it was great to see so many of you there!

Congratulations also to those who won either a ‘fun award’ or received their certificates for winning or becoming a runner-up in each of our competitions! We are grateful for your involvement in the UPLS this year! 🤍

We think it was the perfect way to round off a fantastic year of UPLS achievement, but most importantly - a year of fun and friendships!

We would like to give a special thank you to our President, Daniel, for his help blowing up a million balloons (and providing the giggles to get us through stressfully assembling a balloon arch), and for his wonderful speech on the night! We will miss working with you!🫶🏼

And another thank you to our Secretary Claire, and the rest of the UPLS Committee for providing your help when needed! We are always grateful! ❤️

Lastly a massive thank you to Izzy (iluscombe) for providing these gorgeous photos and working tirelessly all evening. You have been a pleasure to work with this year and we hope you stay in touch! 🥰

On Thursday 8th December we had the pleasure of hosting our Annual Cheese & Wine Networking Evening, organised by the wonderful Events & Activities Officers (Gracie Jade Coleman and Jasmine Clarke) and our fabulous Secretary and Careers Officer (Claire von Hoesslin).

We would like to once again thank all of the professionals who kindly gave their time to attend this popular event. We are always grateful for the advice and knowledge you share with our students.

The University of Plymouth Law Society's Annual Law Ball held on the 29th of April 2022 at The New Continental.

We hope everyone who came had a memorable night, especially the final year students as it was their first and last law ball.

We want to thank you very much for coming and celebrating the year with the University of Plymouth Law Society. It was a pleasure to have you all there with us, and we hope you had a wonderful night.

It was 11 months in the making, and it took a lot of organisation, frustration, creativity and effort to make it happen. We could not have done it without the support of the rest of the committee and a drive to create a special night for all our members and friends.

We will make you aware when the professional photos have been edited and made available to us, but in the meantime, we would love to see your photos of the event! Please drop them into group chats or to us via email or on our social media pages.

We always welcome comments or feedback, so please feel free to reply to this email or message India or Mollie directly.

Hi all, as most of you will know law ball is happening this Friday!! 🎉🎉

Doors will be open from 6 until 6:45. Dinner will start being served at 7:15 ✨

Chloe, Hannah, Tom and a few others from the committee are going to be on the SU roof where you are welcome to walk down with them to the New Continental. They will be there for 5:15 and will begin heading down to the hotel at 5:30, so please join them if you would like ☺️

We would also like to say that the bar will be open to purchase alcohol so please do not bring any of your own. The bar does take card. However we recommend bringing an ID just to be safe. If you do bring your own it will be taken from you and put in the coat area.

Tickets which were not collected at the AGM will be put on your seat at the tables so you can keep it if you wish.

We are then planning to go to the SU after law ball, we will all walk up together at 12 but if you do want to meet us later or go somewhere else you are more than welcome to do so. ###

It’s almost time for our final wave of Law Ball tickets to be released!!🥳

On Wednesday the 9th of March at midday they will be released! So get them whilst you can.

Members will cost £40
Non members will cost £45

This will pay for a 3 course meal, photographer, photo booth and a DJ🥂

Don’t forget the theme is BLACK TIE!!! So dress formally, this is suits, smart trousers and shirt, dresses of all lengths and fits. You do not have to wear black!!! Come in summery colours❤️🧡💛💚💙💜Make sure to read the email receipt carefully and answer the form to book your food!!

News about Round 1,2,3 of the Client Interviewing competition. We will now be holding our rounds on the Friday 10th of December from 11:30am until late afternoon in the cookworthy building.
There will be breaks, you are welcome to bring laptops, work and food.

The prize: A few days work experience at Wolferstans Solicitors and entry into the national competition.

If you are unable to attend the competition please inform us at least 48 hours before the event.
If you would like to be a client please let us know.

Hi All!

We have a Client Interviewing Workshop on Tuesday 30th of November 2021 at 6pm - It will take place in Plymouth Lecture Hall in Portland Square.

Wolferstans Solicitors will be leading this talk! It is a great event to get some advice before participating in our Client interviewing competition on the 7th of December 2021 from 11:30pm. Or if you just want to learn or improve a skill to put on your CV. Semi-finals and finals will be held on the 14th of December 2021.
We are still allowing people to sign up for the client interviewing competition, you do not have to attend the talk to participate in the competition but it is advised.

The winning prize this year is some work experience at Wolferstans in the summer and entry into the national client interviewing competition!

Hello everyone, we have had a few messages regarding our cheese and wine networking evening. This year it is on the 2nd of December from 6pm until 9:30pm. We offered 100 tickets for students to attend and these were sold out a few days before the deadline of 11/11/2021.

We have created a waiting list of for those who didn't manage to get a ticket. If you wish to be added to our waiting list, have any questions or feedback please email [email protected] or message us on facebook (India Ellis and Mollie Pellowe) and we will reply as soon as we can.

Additionally, if you cannot make it please let us know as soon as possible so that we can reallocate your space.

Hi everyone!

We are looking for clients for our client interviewing competition. There is no prep, you just have to turn up and answer questions based off of the character descriptions/scenario you'll be given on the day.

We hope to hold the competition on the 7th of December from 11:30 onwards. Semis and Final rounds will be the following week. Prizes for the winning pair to be announced soon :)

The client interviewing competition is an excellent legal skill to add your CV so we hope that if you have not signed up to interview clients that you will consider being a client! This year we will also be judging our clients, and the best client will be also awarded.

To get your tickets you need to:
1) Go to the UPSU Website
2) Log in to the website, using your University login
3) Search Law Society in the search bar on the left side
4) Click on the top option for the UPLS
5) Scroll down to the products section and click on “add to basket”
6) Then check out! ☺️

You have to be a Member of the UPLS to attend to this event!
