Always happy to support this fantastic, local event.
The team behind it work really hard to find the best ales, ciders and food offerings but also curating a great musical line up. All together a brilliant community event raising loads of cash for some worthy charities. Keep up the good work Duloe Ale and Cider Festival
Look what we have done together! Amazing news. :)
Please see the message below from the Chair of the Ale & Cider Committee, John Massey.
Dear all,
As you know our 17th Ale & Cider Festival was held on 7th September, and the first time ever it rained on us. And it really rained! Instead of sunshades, people brought gazebos for shelter, wore their wellies, and made sure the wet conditions didnโt spoil their fun. And I am delighted to say they definitely made the most of it and had a great time.
With your help, this year, we have been able to donate ยฃ9,600 to our chosen charities and local groups, which as am sure you agree is an incredible amount of money to raise in one day. Obviously that isnโt taking in to account the hours and months put in by the Committee, but they are delighted with the outcome from all their efforts. I am very proud of the commitment shown by the Committee and as always, amazed by the demand for tickets and by the generosity of our sponsors and supporters. You really do make a huge difference to what we can achieve year on year, so I want to say a huge heartfelt thank you!
The charities we have donated to are the Looe RNLI, the Mustard Tree and the Primrose Foundation, both of which are based in Derriford Hospital. The Look Good Feel Better and Spinal Muscular Atrophy charities, and to Duloe Recreation Ground, the Duloe Community Trust Fund and the Duloe village Christmas hampers. We also donated to the Liskeard and Looe Foodbank and on the day people brought items with them, and we collected a brilliant 161kg of food and other items. It is a real privilege to be able to financially contribute towards the work of these charities and groups and help them to deliver the vital services they provide for people living in South East Cornwall and beyond.
The festival has grown over the years and from the start the profits have gone to benefit others. The first event was held in November 2006 and raised ยฃ500. The following year it doubled to ยฃ1000, and from then the amount has steadily grown year on year. The Ale & Cider Festival originally set out to raise funds to help towards the costs of building the skatepark. Now installed and used daily by young and old, it shows what can be done if we come together and have a good time! We as a Committee often choose charities that are, or have, directly supported people within the parish of Duloe as a way of thanking them for their work, alongside other suggestions. Please do let me know if you have any charities or groups that are personal favourites as we are always keen to have more to put up for consideration.
Thank you once again for all your generosity and support, and on behalf of the Ale & Cider Committee I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
Best wishes,
John
