Just a note on the importance of using a reference track when producing. you know what its like, you are chucking loads of samples, ideas etc into a 8 bar loop, loving it initially, then after a few hours after adding more elements, you get bored of the sound.

Having a reference tracks keeps you focused on only adding what's needed to make a decent track, study all the elements, what it is you like about it, how it makes you feel at certain points, then try to recreate that in your own track. Understanding concepts such as call & response and creating tension/release will help too.

This approach has helped me out massively over the last few years, hope it helps.

So, if I had stuck to my guns, I would have had enough tunes to put out an album now. Instead, I released stuff on my Bandcamp and got the rest signed.

Going forward, the plan is to make more bangers and put out a USB stick back catalog with loads of unreleased bits on it. 😉

Made this choon when I first started playing around with FL studio over 10 years ago, it's got over 17k plays now, production is ropey as f**k as you would expect when you first start out.

I keep these tunes on SoundCloud to remind myself how far I've progressed, the lesson here is only compare yourself with previous version of yourself.

Stick with it, it starts to make sense over time...sort of 😆

* Producer Tip*

If your track is losing power in the main sections, it might be because your kick is being masked by other elements. Try using an LFO tool on riffs, pad etc at around 60% to side chain these out of the way and let the kick poke through. Don't forget to automate off when in the breakdown. Hope this helps 👍
