‘Grow the Grove’ St M’s are proud to be supporting in …here at our community garden we grow lots of healthy foods from potatoes to beetroots, courgettes to strawberries…and the best thing is ITS ALL FREE, why don’t you come on down to see what we’re growing.

Over the last couple of weeks St M’s and .asylum.portsmouth have been building a raised bed for herbs to give back to the community in thyme…
It was hot, hard work but many hands made light work of it and we did our bit for Big Green Week we will be having a kitchen garden like yours soon….

Cut grass operation complete. St M’s took part in no mow May to allow a meadow to form which helps the wildlife in the area….if you fancy coming over to help volunteering to manage the garden just get in touch.

St M’s has been taking part in the No Mow May Movement, if you think it needs a cut back here are some reasons why it’s good to grow your garden a little bit. 1)helps brings the pollinators such as bees back to the area 2) it conserves water as the grass roots stretch out further looking for natural sources 3) Allows wildflowers to return which attract insects that may feed on our vegetables Hope you enjoy those facts…although we could do with a hand on the 1st June to manage it if you want to come and join us.

We’ve had a busy week in our community garden, the sun finally arrived so it made it even more pleasurable. A huge thank you to .asylum.portsmouth for helping us. Not to mention our local community helping plant tomatoes and runner beans for the summer….

St M’s are glad to be welcoming the Go To project to St Michaels church every Monday throughout the summer - this is a bike project with a difference, set up to offer free local deliveries and accompanied Tri shaw rides for all PO6 postcodes - run by the Good Neighbours Network all rides are delivered by trained and DBS Pioneers and volunteers.

It was our first meet the Vicar today at St M’s. These lovely people joined Fr Hugo for coffee and doughnuts, join us next weekend for some more weekend treats. 🍩☕️☕️

Once again….we had a wonderful time feeding Paulsgrove on Fishcake Friday yesterday, we managed to feed over 65 people with a lot of help from the Army

With a little help from Elvin and his Army of volunteers we were able to expand our service to Paulsgrove where we delivered over 68 hot fishcake suppers to the local community…. food

Now you may have noticed some things growing in our lovely garden...please help yourself to some chard, below is a really quick and easy way to cook it.
1) Strip the leaves from the stem.
2) Chop the stems up (I like to do them on the diagonal)
3) Heat up a saucepan with a tablespoon of oil and a pinch of salt (maybe some chopped garlic as well)
4) Add the chopped stems to the pan and cook them so they have colour on.
5) Add the leaves, mix them in with the stems so the leaves shrink in size ( this is the water evaporating)
6) Stir and serve up. Delicious.

Jubilee Garden Party SUCCESS! Much jelly and ice cream, art and craft sessions, was enjoyed. ❤️ We loved the ‘Alice in Wonderland characters from The Young Creatives Portsmouth and 'The Mad Hatter' - 'Gizmo'. Lots of fun was had, all round. With music and performances from Irène - Vocalist
