It was a great big Platinum Jubilee long weekend and now I have recovered and put away most of the tables, chairs and bunting I would like to say a few "Thank You"s

To the Arborfield Village Hall Trustees, thank you for letting us use the hall.
To Arborfield and Newland Parish Council, thank you for letting us use the Pavilion and the Park.
To the Village Hall Management Committee and the Arborfield Social Club thank you for all your help with managing events at the hall, and a super big special THANK YOU to the Social Club for funding the craft day and the afternoon tea.
To the Arborfield Brownies, especially Val and Trev for all your hard work decorating the hall, it looked fantastic!
To "Eight to the Four", "Sing with Soph", "Damian Passmore and the lovable fraudsters", "Silver Foxes" and "Dream Sellers" thank you all for the musical entertainment, you were brilliant!
To Mike Bostock for getting the P.A. and most of the music organised.
To Melvin Yardley for the loan of his Gazeebo and Truck.
To Sheila Bunce for the loan of her Gazeebos, Chairs and Tables.
To Margaret Edwards and family for going and getting the food.
To Barry Mann for his excellent Signage (as ever!).
To all of you who turned up to help us celebrate.
Last, but most importantly, to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for 70 years of dedication to duty. THANKS EVERYONE :-)

Dream Sellers had a great first rehearsal at Arborfield Village Hall last night and I am really excited at the prospect of hearing them play again when they headline the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Picnic in Arborfield Park on Sunday 5th June.

Also performing will be Sing with Soph, Damian Passmore and the Lovable Fraudsters and the Silver Foxes.

Fancy Dress competition, Scavenger hunt and Guess the Neighbour will be starting around 12.00 ;-) If you live locally the park is easy to find on the Eversley Road between the Bull Inn (Arborfield Cross War Memorial roundabout) and Henry Street garden centre.

Parking spaces are limited so if you can possibly walk there please do, and bring something to sit on (unless you plan on dancing for 6 hours?).

Just a quick update on events over the Bank Holiday long weekend.
The Picnic in the park is now around 150 people wanting to come and I had originally thought I could provide 100 places using all the tables from the Village Hall and from the Pavilion. I have a couple of long wooden tables under the stage at the hall which should give me another 20 places but we are still short by about 30 places. If people are able to bring additional tables and or chairs to the park that would be really helpful ;-) I will be in the park from around 9.30 setting up so you can always drop off your picnic furniture in the morning and get it set up ready to start the party at 12.00.
If you are interested in entering the Fancy Dress competition there is no special theme, just have fun!
The Scavenger hunt will begin at 12.00
Fancy Dress judging will be at 13.00
Sing with Soph starts at 14.00 and will be a song from each decade of the Queens reign with lyric sheets provided.
15.00 will be Damian Passmore and the Lovable Fraudsters
16.00 will be the Moonlight Foxes
17.00 will be Dream Sellers
18.00 we will start to tidy up
Some additional parking will be available on the field but please leave cars at home if you possibly can.
Bring your own food and drink as we are not providing refreshments. The toilets will be open in the Pavilion.
No BBQs, No Litter and Dogs on leads please.
Looking forward to a great Platinum Jubilee :-)
Hope to see you soon.

The Platinum Jubilee Crafting Party, Tea Party and Picnic are now closed for further booking. It will be possible to attend the Picnic in the park on Sunday 5th June if you bring your own table and chairs or are happy sitting on the ground. The tables we are setting up for this event are now fully booked. The crafting Party at the Hall on Thursday is also now fully booked, please remember it is important that all children are accompanied for the duration of the event by a responsible adult. The Tea party is starting at 12.00 and the musical entertainment will start at 13.00. As can be seen from the photos the hall has been decorated for the Jubilee events and a big thank you to the Brownies and to Arborfield Social Club for doing this.

The Platinum Jubilee Picnic in the Park on Sunday 5th June will be going ahead, despite the efforts of local arsonists to ruin the day by setting fire to the park picnic shelter. Show the silly idiots who did this wanton act of vandalism what you are made of and pack a rain hat under your tiara just in case it does rain! (This is England, after all) ;-)

Looking forward to a great day

We are still taking bookings for events over the weekend at Arborfield Village Hall and Arborfield Park. See the flyer below for details and ignore the deadline of 21st May. You can print the flyer and pop it in the Village Hall post box, or you can write your details on a note. It will be possible to turn up on the day but please note that the Crafting event on Thursday 2nd June and the afternoon Tea on Saturday 4th June have limited spaces available and advance booking is strongly advised.

If you are interested in finding out more about any of the Platinum Jubilee events listed here and would like to talk to someone, or if you would like to book a place or reserve a table I will be at the Arborfield Parish Meeting on Friday 13th May. The APM will run from 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm at Arborfield Village Hall and will include stalls run by local community groups and free refreshments.

I will be at the Village Hall in Arborfield most of today (Polling Day for Local Elections) to "sign up" people who are interested in attending this Platinum Jubilee event.
I will leave some "expressions of interest" slips in the old Doctors Waiting Room which can be posted into the Village Hall Post Box (By the front door on your left as you enter) for when I am not able to be there.

Welcome to the Arborfield Platinum Jubilee page. I hope to add more detail to each of the four events already planned, and invite you to comment on each as appropriate. I have another possible event lined up which needs a bit of work, but could be an exciting Live Music plus Live Streamed event from the Village Hall, which would be a first, if nothing else! Come back soon :-)
